Third-person pronouns, by the way, don't really seem to exist.
Instead of a definitive "he", "she", or "it", sentences referring to
a third party tend to start out with one of the following:

"Ano hito wa" (That person)
"Kono hito wa" (This person)
"Ano <noun> wa" (That <noun>)
"Ano <noun> wa" (This <noun>)

hmm, I have also seen these two:

kare wa (him, boyfriend)
kanojo wa (her, girlfriend)

Although, because they refer to a specific relationship, I guess tehy
wouldnt be used so much. Then again, in Ranma I guess they ought to be
used *more* with 4 pushy girls all competing (-_^). I think my point is
that Japanese can use 3 person pronouns, but it would not sound normal
to the average nihonjin.

Personally, fics that make a point of 3rd person pronouns grate on my
knowledge of Japanese.
