That brings up another topic; the possibility of Emerald winning. If
he does that, then he loses.
Why? Standard Time Paradox.(Patent pending)
He wins, Serenity vanishes, the world is still trapped in ice.
Emerald can't go back because he's still fighting the demon who froze
the world, so he doesn't and Serenity pops back into existance
because he never went back. Then he does go back... then he doesn't..
. so on and so forth.
You make one common logical error. If there is no Serenity, who is to
say that no other heroes will arise to fight, and possibly defeat, the
demon. Also, I believe that he has decided that it was _Serenity_ who
summoned the Ice to defeat the fire-spawned demon.
So, the events that would occur w/o Serenity would be:
1) Demon invades. Initial casualties would be higher, because of the
lack of Serenity's leadership, unless Emerald sticks around long enough
in this time to ensure adequate defenses will arise.
2) Demon is defeated by some method other than the Ice, again,
possibly instigated by Emerald.
3) Emerald retires as a Happy Camper. -_*
Of course, that raises an interesting alternative for Emerald, one
which his failure to consider is probably his biggest flaw. He has been
running on the assumption that the Senshi and Serenity of his time are
the same people. This is absurd. As any student of chaos theory will
tell you, any alteration of initial circumstances in a complex scenario
will yield vast differences down the line.
Therefore, the best way to prevent the future he fears might be to
describe it, in detail, to the Senshi of Now. After all, the idea of
brainwashing an entire planet, which might seem the only possible way of
saving it to Serenity would be anathema to Usagi/Sailor Moon.
Then he could actually try to work with them to devise a better way
to head off the demon, possibly even _before_ it strikes. Voila! One
happy ending for all. Of course, then Future2 Serenity would send back
Emerald at the appropriate opportunity to make sure he performed the
same task and ensure the integrity of the timeline.
Now, as we all know (thanks to Star Trek, Back to the Future, The
Time Tunnel and others), when a paradox like this happens, it's
resolved one of two ways...
1) The cause of the paradox (in this case, Emerald) is wipped from
existance.
OR
2) The world acts as an extra in Dragon Ball: Z and blows up.
Nope. The third possiblity is that world accomodates the flaw by
altering events to fit.

But then again... with the way this story is going... I wouldn't be
too surprised if number two was your choice. ^_^
