Hm.  Are you *quite* sure it was a rip-off, rather than, say... a
tribute?  Besides, the episode was written by William Gibson, the man
who *created* the cyberpunk genre with his break-through novel,
_Neuromancer_.  If anything, BGC owes the very aspects that you claim
X-Files "ripped off" -- if not its very existance -- 

You're definitely right about _Neuromancer_ pre-dating BGC, but Philip K. Dick's novel _Do Androids Dream Of 
Electric Sheep_, on which _Bladerunner_ was based, was 
written in the 1970's, so it's hard to tell who 
pre-dates who. ^_^  (_Neuromancer_ came out in 1984, 
I believe.)
