Well, it's been I don't know how many weeks since I sent out my request
for any Ukyou and Ranma fics in which the two are a couple, married, or
somehow together. The number of such fics, while not surprising, was
definitely disheartening. I guess I should explain my rationalization
for making such a request. I started reading fics a few months ago, and
I was beginning to run of out really good material. There were a few
fics out there that still drew my attention, but they were becoming more
and more scarce. The majority of these fics were Ranma and Akane ones.
While I in NO way have an anti-Akane bias (she's one of my favorite anime
characters!), I was getting a bit bored of them, mainly because they had
many of the same themes. The sad fact is that many of these themes were
unavoidable because they formed the basis of the Ranmaverse. It got to
the point where I could basically tell in what direction a fic was going
to go. So in an attempt to alleviate my boredom, I decided to try to
branch out and see how I liked Alternate Universe fics. While some of
them are utter failures in the sense that they no longer have anything in
common with the Ranmaverse except for the names of the characters, others
have done a wonderful job at changing a certain event in the past and
proceeding with a what-if fic, or changing the setting of the story but
keeping the characters the same, etc. As I began exploring the Alternate
Universe genre, I noticed how few Ukyou and Ranma fics existed. I will
admit I do have an Ukyou bias, mostly because of the various fics I've
read (yes, it's all you guys and gals' faults). In many fics, it's
either: Ukyou ends up with Ryouga, or Ukyou commits suicide, or Ukyou
leaves Nerima in depression, or Ukyou stays and tries to be Ranma's best
friend but ends up being miserable, or Akane dies and Ranma "chooses"
Ukyou, etc. You get the picture.
Anyway, so that's why I wanted to find more Ukyou and Ranma fics.
Consistently reading fics like the ones mentioned above (even if Ranma
and Akane DO get together) do get a bit depressing. So here's the end
result -- a listing of most of the Ranma and Ukyou fics out there. I
won't be stupid and proclaim it's a listing of them all; there's bound to
be someone who wasn't able to get my posting, isn't subscribed to the
FFML (the horror, the humanity!), or something else. I'm still looking,
by the way, so if anyone has any additions, please email me privately (or
on the FFML if you choose). One last thing -- this list is a bit a of a
spoiler in the sense that you will now know that Ukyou and Ranma end up
together somehow. Whether or not it's happily, unhappily, or have to go
through seven shades of hell to get together is up to you to find out. I
got pretty lenient about my standards of "happy" -- a few of these don't
really leave everyone happy, but I guess that's kinda expected in the
Ranmaverse.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my request, especially Thomas Wu who
provided me with a list of fics that he compiled after asking this
question a while ago.
Well, I guess woefully short wouldn't really do this list justice, ne? A
lot of these fics aren't really true Ranma and Ukyou fics where the
outcome left everyone relatively happy, but I decided to post 'em just so
people could be exposed to Ukyou. Again, I'd like to reiterate how much
I'd appreciate it if anyone who comes across a happy Ukyou and Ranma fic
to point it out to me. Which leads to my next question. Would anyone
like to write such a fic? If you'd like, I'll put it out as a challenge.
Solve the fiancee problem by pairing Ranma and Ukyou while at the same
time giving everyone else a relatively (which is pretty much anything
under the sun) happy ending. Can it be done? Hopefully.
Umm, these fics were put on this list without any of the authors'
permission, so I hope none of them have a problem with it. If so, please
contact me and I'll be sure to remove it. If anyone would like my
personal opinion on these fics, or what I mean when I talk about a Ranma
and Ukyou happy fic, or anything else, just send me a message and I'll
