I have serious problems reading this series (the first part even more
so, since this one shows at least some rays of hope; had it not, I
might not have been able to get through it). Not because of tear-blurred
eyes like some of your other work, but because it feels so horridly,
irrevocably Unfair (for lack of a better word).

It is quite simply possibly the most scary thing I've ever read, and
brings a very unpleasant feeling to my gut; so much so that I had to
leave this part waiting for a week before I could even read it.

So ... well, as I said, I'm not really sure how that's to be
interpreted. You've managed to bring everything across just as bad
as it really is. It's a positive reaction, I guess, so long's it does
not truly make the reading impossible.

The Kasuga family has powers that others do not possess. The greater the
power, the more damage that it can do when abused. But this is true for
physical strength, wealth, or political power in the hands of someone
amoral and ambitious. Isn't the abuse of power and manipulation of others
why many of us have mixed feelings when watching NGE? Have you ever read
"The Trial" by Kafka or "The Power Broker" by Caro? Both left me feeling
somewhat queasy. Unlike Ranma 1/2 or UY, the world of KOR is sufficiently
"normal" that the dark side is more believable and more realistic. And, as
in reality, cruelty and uncaring unrestrained ambition usually leave scars
even when good triumphs.
