I've read several self insertion fics and cross-overs and an idea  came
to me.

Instead of the AUTHOR being inserted into HIS favorite show,   insert a
CHARACTER into THEIR favorite show

for example:    if ranma likes Urusei Yatsura he would be   !inserted!
into that show/world/dimension
                    AND know what was going on, why, and what MIGHT
happen in their future

this would work for any anime character you want.
I personaly haven't seen this done before.

A      (character-insertion)   fanfic you could say

The only anime character i know who even watches anime is Mihoshi, who loves
Moldiver.
