Neil-san brings up some good points.

Thanks... :)
I hopefully didn't give the impression that I ONLY read fics from
authors I've read before; that's not true.
 Nope...
I only got what I was saying....
people tend to stick with what or who they know...
Some of us may go out on a limb for something or may even have the
invisible (except to the author) - but in my opinion vital,
task of pre-reading. It's fun to look at the raw stuff but it can also be
a pain.
I tend to send my stuff out to a couple of friends off the list.
(that way they actually think I'm a passable writer :) )

I rather like sending long and
drawn out (some authors who've received them might call them boring)
comments to authors who's fics I liked.

I understand thiscompletly even if I don't do it.

Actually, at times, it's not
even necessarily that I like the fics, but more that I think their idea
is great, and I want to encourage them to improve the fic.

at least try to put together a paragraph or so. Try to avoid "I loved
it! It was great. See ya!"

This is still some of the stuff I manages to dredge up myself and I would
think that a Creative Writing degree and one in English would produce
something better than "Neat!"
Which is sometimes all I can muster.

Wah!!!

I just cut off my .sig :(
