They get it again, only this time it's worse.
Akane in BE didn't do anything to caused her disorder.

She failed to seek treatment.

Inability to seek treatment voluntarily is part of the disease. In
traditional abuse scenarios, the abuser sought voluntary treatment less
than 1% of the time. This would be magnified in the IED scenario.

Of course the thought occurs to me that this is because abusers are bad
people.

Most victums of a heart attack will not admit to having one while it is in
progress, instead choosing to believe any excuse that they can think of.
Indigestion, gas, it'll go away soon anyway, etc. This reaction is not
due to vileness or weak will on the part of the person with a heart
attack, but is the result human nature.

I suspect that the same argument can be appiled here. Akane does not wish
to believe that she has a problem of this magnitude. While she is worried
about the results, she is dealing with the problem in the same manner of a
heart attack victum, denial. Does this make her a bad person? No, it
marks her a normal person subjected to an abnormal situation.

The sardines weren't worth the trouble. A few more shots, then
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode. Ducking around a corner,
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I was betrayed. "Tell me."
I insisted. He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
"Last chance. Where can Ranma-Ranma find good fanfics?"
"Try Jason Liao." he whispered, before he slumped to the floor.
I heard the sounds of a door splintering as I left through the
window, one step ahead of Tendo Heavy Industries...
