Missing is probably correct. Both characters come out of temporal dilation
14 million years later. 

14,000 years. I've got the tapes (took some searching to get them - I
don't know of *any* other copies around here).

But the fragment sounded like it changes the fourth episode where Noriko
pilots Gunbuster solo against the first enemy armada and deliberately
impales Gunbuster on an enemy to come to grips with it. In the original,
she survived that encounter - it looks like this story changes that to she
doesn't live through it.
