Hmm, as I was rereading my letter, I realized it can be considered a
spoiler for Susan Doenime's fic, Poison. So with that said, please don't
read further if you ever plan on reading this fic. If you want, you
here's Susan-san's addy in case you want it (and I definitely recommend
it too!). <wendigo@humbug.org.au>

Another of my seemingly pointless but important to myself questions. I
finally got a chance to read the Chicken Ball Awards (Wai!! Well done,
Megane 6.7!). I was going over the sadfic section, and I saw that Susan
Doenime's fic, Poison, was nominated. I guess it just reminded me what
her fic was about, and brought up a question I had regarding it.
So, this goes out to basically everyone who knows something about this
subject. I in no way am trying to be insesitive. Anyway, why exactly is
it so bad about being descended from a burakumin? I know this questions
seems niave; I read Susan-san's explanation of it. It still seems
unfathomable that such a distinction would cause Akane (and appartenly
anyone else) to express such disgust and loathing towards Ranma.
I think the most obvious answer to me is that Japan is a country in which
honor and tradition are very highly regarded. Perhaps this tradition and
adherence to it is the cause of these reactions? Anyway, if you feel you
know the answer, email me privately and like I stated in my last letter,
I'll post a summerization of the answers I receive so as to avoid spam.
Also, please don't bother responding if you're just guessing. No sense
taking the time if you're not sure, ne? Well, thanks for you time. Ja,
ne.
