forgive me if I misquote: "If one American soldier's life was saved by 
dropping the bomb, it was worth it."

In the Anime continuity of Sailor Moon, the Senshi kill/destory hundreds 
of bad guys.  Why?  Because, in the Senshi's minds, they're saving the 
world or fighting evil.  Truman and Roosevelt had the exact same 
mindset.

I think this fiction would be more effective if Ami thought of that.

I'm sure she thought of it; I think there's a line where she compares
herself to those who made the decision.  She's as fanatical about
protecting the princess as anyone possibly could (to the point of
insanity, it can be argued). I'm more sure she thought of it back during
the S season.  And I'm sure she decided that the enemies they were up
against weren't human.  In that case it's okay; you don't feel remorse for
killing a rampaging bear (at least not anything close that that over
killing a human being).

Truman was in a different position, however.  He had real people to worry
about, not youma.  this is not to say that he couldn't justify it; he
obviously did, at least to himself.  But it makes it considerably more
difficult.

I don't think that made any sense at all.  Oh well.
