Finally, a new chapter in this silly little DB/Ranma-"fusion" (I like
to think that I'm just introducing Ranma concepts in DB). As usual, all
comments appreciated, to "thark@swipnet.se" (or the list), and my
webpage's at "http://nabiki.newberry.edu/thark/fanfic/".

Marron had her head in her hands as she and Goten walked home from
the baking contest. "How could I lose?" she asked herself; what was
intended as just a thought slipping out her mouth.
Goten grinned as images of delicious cakes and cookies rapidly
filled his mind. "Maybe you didn't practice enough?" he suggested with
an hopeful look, some drool dripping down the edge of his mouth.
*wham*
For a fraction of a section, Marron's fist seemed to assume gigantic
proportions, just as it impacted with the boy's head, but it returned
to normal too soon for anyone to notice, and she snorted derisively as
she wandered away, leaving the barely concious Goten in a heap on the
ground to contemplete where he went wrong.
When the half-sayajin boy managed to regain his senses, it was only
to find himself being thrown into a brick wall, hard - of course, the
wall took it a lot harder than he did, but that wasn't the point.
He looked up to see a fuming, dark-skinned little boy with an
impressive-looking mohawk haircut come rushing at him at full steam,
and he struck out with a leg just as he was about to be tackled.
"Sorry, kid, ain't got time," he shouted, raising into the air just
as the other carhsed into one of the other buildings, further lowering
the area's estate value. "Seeya later." He loved fighting - but now he
was getting late for dinner.
^_^
As a happily sated Goten left the house to fly off for his daily
training, he found the annoying little kid waiting for him outside.
He stepped up to the younger boy, brushing a hand through his hair
in the most insulting way possible. "So, whadda ya want, kid?"
His only answer was a fierce, somewhat unexpected uppercut that sent
him tumbling through the air. Goten rolled a few times to get on the
right keel and suspended himself in the air just in time to avoid
crashing into Kuririn's house.
"I warn ya, brat," he said, rapidly growing irritated. "I don't like
fightin', but..."
For the record, had a lie-detector been present, it would have
beeped like crazy at this point.
The kid glared at him, in the way that usually makes people happy
looks can't kill, though it mostly served to amuse the confident older
boy. "I kill you if no keep grubby hands offa Marron-sama!" he
announced, with a very obviously present accent that was exotic if
somewhat hard to place.
Goten groaned. "Why'd ya care for that little girl, anyway?"
The kid saw red (juding by the color his eyes had assumed by now,
anyway). "KILL!" With an impressive leap, he managed to reach high
enough to connect a fist to the other's gut, but Goten saw the punch
coming a mile away and rolled with the blow, recieving only
superficial damage.
The older boy retributed with a kick that struck his opponent's face
from above and forced him to roll backwards as Goten dropped tothe
ground... to face an adversary taht had risen once again and didn't
seem to have been bothered much by the blow. With a shout of "Haiya!"
the stubborn little pest jumped at him with a flying kick that would
probably have hurt, had it connected.
Goten, however, sidestepped it easily, and yelled out as he threw a
bolt of energy at the boy that crashed into the ground, not quite
expecting to continue beyond his target. "HA! HA! HA!"
Two more quick bolts followed the first one, and Goten grinned
smugly, knowing that he had won yet another battle ... which proved to
be a mistake as a punch that *did* hurt struck his chin from below and
made him stumble backwards.
Despite his surprise and lack of balance, he managed to intercept
the roundhouse kick that followed and blocked it before it impacted
with his head, resulting in a cracking sound in his arm - this kid was
strong.
He grabbed the leg with his other arm and tossed the kid some
distance away to buy time for his next move. "KAMEKAMEHA!" The
powerful stream of energy struck the boy before he hit the ground, and
Goten eyed the cloud of dust that resulted when his opponent was
blasted heavily into the pavement, determined not to make the same
move twice.
Wise, it turned out, and he stared wide-eyed as the other emerged
from the cloud of dust with no apparent injuries other than some
bruises. "Ma- masaka!" he breathed as he flared with energy, his hair
rapidly turning blond. Time to get serious...
The kid flew at him just as the transformation completed, and he
barely ducked below the fierce tackle, impacting a kick that would
have killed any normal man to the other's skull as he somersaulted
backwards and turned to face his enemy again.
The younger boy struck out with a fist, but Goten had no trouble
avoiding it and retributed with a hard strike of his own that barely
seemed to faze his opponent. He struck out again, and again, but
nearly lost his breath as he failed to stop the kid's second blow and
it impacted heavily with his gut.
Despite getting in three for every one he took, Goten soon realized
he couldn't afford trading blows for much longer, and he struck out
with a front kick that threw his oponent backwards, and followed up
with a punch that crushed his prone adversary's chest against the
ground before he had time to rise.
Though now finally troubled by his injuries, the kid jumped up with
a kick that impacted Goten's chin heavily, and he snarled as he spat
out some blood, his jaw now broken, and struck out in retribution with
a punch to the gut that stunned his opponent long enough for the two
swift front kicks that followed to send him to the ground, this time
not rising again.
The younger boy tried to push himself up, but fell down again,
breathing heavily, lacking the energy to keep fighting. Goten himself
stood only barely, and breathed just as hoarsely, as he brushed some
blood off his aching jaw.
Gokuu, who had been watching the fight curiously, walked up to them.
He didn't like interrupting fights, even ones where the "wrong" side
seemed to be winning, as his son by now knew only all too well.
He kneeled by the fallen boy, to Goten's irritation, and grinned at
him. "Hey, kid, you're pretty good."
"U... Uub..." Uub said heavily.
"Great energy and strenght, but ya lack training. I could help ya,
if ya stay here. Whadda ya say?" The saiyajin was rapidly growing
excited at the project and smiled happily as his new student barely
managed to nod before drifting off to the land of unconciousness.
"Great," Goten muttered under his breath. "Just what I needed."
^_^
Uub levitated somewhat unsteadily in his new room, still trying to
master the flying trick he had just been thaught. So far, he hadn't
had too much luck, as the mohawk pointing straight down indicated.
Even with all the blood currently rushing down into his blood, he
just couldn't figure it out. If Goten was a devil he had to prevent
from ravaging the angelic Marron-sama, where did that leave Gokuu-
sensei?
He still hadn't managed to straighten things out in his mind when he
dropped to the ground as his vision rapidly greww dark and a large
amount of the most fascinating dots of light began dancing on his
eyes.
^_^
"Okay," Goten instructed, "now try to evade as many of the punches
Goten throws as you can. He'll be going for speed, if too many hit,
that can be just as bad as a few hard ones."
He nodded with a satisfied expression as his two pupils gradually
grew more and more blurry, their pace constantly increasing. Every now
and then, a smacking sound indicated a punch that got through. "Good,"
he said. "I'm going off for a snack; keep at it 'til I return.
Remember, evade, don't block."
As soon as the door had closed behing the Sayajin, Uub took a step
backwards. "Now," he announced, "I kill!"
To Goten's immense relief, Bra chose this moment to come rushing.
She placed herself in front of her supposed fiancee as if to protect
him, staring defiantly at the younger boy. "Leave Goten-sama alone or
die!"
Uub's previously so angry expression melted in an instant, and he
just looked at the girl for several seconds with utter bliss in his
eyes before he managed to get a word out. "...sure."
Goten groaned. _I don't believe this kid,_ he thought.
^_^
Uub was now having severe difficulties. Bra was obviously an angel,
so why did she defend the vile demon Goten? This religious stuff sure
had become difficult lately.
^_^
Goten brushed his teeth lazily, squinting, tired eyes trying to
figure out if the being in the mirror really *was* him, when someone
tapped his shoulder.
"I KILL YOU, SON GOTEN!"
^_^
Goten patted his now filled stomach contently as he left the dining
hall, only to find a certain someone waiting for him outside.
"I KILL YOU, SON GOTEN!"
^_^
Wearily, Goten pushed the door open, ready to throw his bag in and
once again temporarily forget all about school.
"I KILL YOU, SON GOTEN!"
^_^
"Huh?" Goten managed to mutter sleepily, noting absently that the
red light from the alarm clack formed the digits 03:30.
"I KILL YOU, SON GOTEN!"
^_^
An exhausted Goten stood waiting in a school corridor towards the
end of the day, hoping that he'd managed to find the right one.
A few minutes, later, the door opened, and out stormed a seemingly
neverending horde of youths, trampling all things in their way and
shouting cheerfully as schoolkids are wont to do at that time of day.
The stunned boy extracted himself from the floor to face the last
student leaving the classroom. As he had hoped, is what a somewhat
cute little girl going by a slightly unusual name.
"Hi, Bra-chan!" he said, managing a smile despite his weary
exterior.
"Hello, Goten-sama!" she replied brightly.
He pondered his course of action for a few short seconds, not
certain it was a good one, but then felt his broken jaw with a hand,
and decided he could afford the risk. "Say, would ya like to follow me
home?"
She looked up at him, smiling excitedly. "Sure. Why?"
"I figured, umm..." Goten hesitated as he paused to think. "Maybe ya
could help me with this math stuff?"
Bra nodded happily; Goten-sama obviously had to be smarter than her,
but she *was* a genius after all.
^_^
"WHAT?" Marron shouted, outraged. "You invited that little bitch to
our house? PERVERT!"
As so many others, the scene ended with Goten in a heap on the
ground, a shoe-imprint clearly visible on his face.
^_^
"Ano..." Bra began, wavering slightly as she leaned over to look at
Goten's calculations. "Goten-sama, are you sure?"
The boy in question scratched the back of his head. He didn't have a
clue what he was doing, mathematics not being one of his strong points
(he couldn't even spell it), but no way was he gonna let *her* know
that. He put on his best confident grin and told her, "Of course!"
He was spared from further embarassement as the door to his room
burst open and a certain dark-skinned vermin stormed in. "SON GOTEN,
I..." Uub faltered upon noticing the confident grin still on his
"rival"'s face, and as his eyes then fell on Bra, his resolve
shattered utterly. "...just tell you, dinner ready," he concluded
weakly.
Goten grinned even wider, very satisfied with himself. Bra just
watched the two boys, more than a little confused.
^_^
Dende smiled as he finished another mouthful of food. "Aah," he
exclaimed. "Mr. Popo cooks such a low variety of dishes!"
Uub, who trudged down to the table after a lengthy visit to the
toilet, looked up at the green-skinned man - wo... - err, whatever.
"Who you?" he asked curiously.
"Oh," the alien told him smugly, "I'm God, but you can call me
Dende. And you?"
Choosing to save the religious crisis for later, the boy simply
answered, "Uub."
Dende looked at him, concentrated, then looked some more, his face
gradually assuming an expression that could best be described as
shock, and finally snapped his fingers. In a flash of light, Piccolo
appeared, stunning most of those present with surprise. "Huh?" Goten
said, expressing the general opinion on the situation.
"Don't you see?" Dende exclaimed. "Uub is Buu backwards, and with
that powerlevel, he just has to be Buu reborn!"
Piccolo hit his palm heavily with his fist. "I knew he couldn't be
destroyed!" the once-devil snarled.
"Look," Goten said, stepping in front of the younger boy. "I don't
like him or nuthin', but he's just a kid for gods sake! Calm down!"
Meanwhile, the subject of the discussion hid behind his sensei,
fearing the wrath of God.
"We can't let him grow stronger!" Piccolo exclaimed furiously.
"Ano..." Gokuu interjected, somewhat uncertainly. "Actually, I
wished for him to return."
"Not entirely surprising, this produced a series of facefaults, and
when everybody had regained their footing, the Namekians stared
harshly at the Sayajin - the intimidatory effect totally lost on him.
"Oh!" he laughed. "Without being evil, of course!"
^_^
"OK, Goten," Uub said, somewhat apologetically. "You no demon. Peace
- but be nice to Marron-sama, or else!"
They shook hands, and Goten grinned at him. "Sure. Why'd I wanna
mess with that stupid, short-tempered little girl, anyway?"
"DIIIEE!"
And thus, normality had been redefined yet again, and a new pattern
settled.
^_^
AUTHOR'S NOTES
--------------
Fic status: After this, I'll mainly be working on "Shadows On The Wall",
a tale of cosmic horror in the Ranmaverse, lovecraftian style. It's at
least a month away, probably more. NEY06 might come next week, or next
year, depending on simply when I get in the right mood. There's also a
large risk I'll be continuing "The Path Through Darkness" in some way
(yes, including a rewritten "epilogue"), but god only knows when.
