Disclaimer:
These characters are neither my property or my creations, and you all know
the rest, right? (Apologies to the creators, don't take offense & don't sue,
please? etc. etc.)
This idea had been bouncing around in my head all week, so I decided to put
it through my wordprocessor and see what happened...
Should I add it to my list of unfinished stories? (To be slowly continued as
time and inspiration allow.) Or does the idea need refining? (I _know_ the
prose needs work, but I just started typing this late last night, and I added
some details tonight, so it may not make as much sense tomorrow morning, As I
think it does now, but it should get enough of the point accross as a rough
draft to almost work. Besides Alternate Universe, (non x-over,) OMG fics are
still fairly rare, so I hope it will incite at least some curiosity and
feedback.)
Once again, this is a _very_ rough draft, posted to see what kind of feedback
I get.

Mirror, Mirror
As the bored young man, patiently waited for anyone to show by the
guild house, he thought once again of his fortune. In spite of his small
size and rather unassuming demeanor, he had somehow managed to get accepted
to one of the best apprenticeship programs on the land. Unfortunately, he
had the misfortune of ending up in one of the poorest, and least respected,
of all the apprentice halls. In spite of that, those who dwelled here were
usually hired to do some of the most interesting and unusual jobs around.
However, their unique approach to work usually meant that most of the profits
were already owed to someone else in payment for supplies, or to be used in
paying to repair any damage, (almost always accidental,) incurred while
working. Whatever monies remained after that, they were usually gone in a
few days, spent on the barest necessities of life, leaving very little to
improve on the hall. Thus, given the need for constant business to maintain
themselves, along with the fact that the main entrance was now practically
unclosable due to its decrepit state, a watchman duty had been instituted for
all apprentices residing on what was now colloquially known by everyone as
"The club house."
It had been Keiichiis fortune (yet again) to be selected for the
honor of watching the hall on this particular day. Of course, the fact
that it was a holiday, and everyone but him had something or someone to see
in town, had nothing to do with his selection. Damn it! It was not his fault
that his family lived in a distant village. At least he should get some
money out of this, if his mentors did not spend the budget on yet another
stupid plan "for the honor and eternal glory of the guild!"
Well, since it was so quiet in here, maybe he could do something
useful while he waited for something to happen. Pulling out a piece of cloth
from his pocket, and grabbing the beautifully hand-crafted mirror that had
been laying by his side, he began to clean and polish it, even as he
considered what to do with it.
It was a beautiful metal mirror, with a finely polished wooden
handle, one he had carefully crafted into a pleasant, yet sturdy and
practical design. In spite of the obvious success in the execution of such a
complex design, he still had no idea what in heavens name had ever compelled
him to make it. He could not sell it, since it was as if the mere idea of
selling it was somehow wrong. This mirror should be given, not bought. And
it would make a great gift for someone special, but for who?
While there were plenty of pretty girls in Nekomi, few of them seemed
to notice him, and most of those that did seemed to treat him as
inconsequential. As he held the mirror, feeling sorry for himself, he was
thinking how he knew he was nothing special, and maybe he was _a little_
shorter than most locals, but still
There should be someone, somewhere, who could find him attractive.
Someone he could fall in love with. Right? He just wished for a chance to
meet that special person. His reverie was suddenly broken when he noticed
the mirror had started to glow, faintly. Almost dropping it in surprise, he
was even more surprised to see somebody elses face reflected in it, looking
at him with a mixture of concern and curiosity. Momentarily dumbfounded, he
could only think of how beautiful she looked. As the impossibility of the
situation finally began to register, he almost dropped the mirror. Fumbling
to recover it, he tripped headfirst into the mirror.
Having thrown his arms in front of him to block the fall, it came as
a sudden shock when they failed to make contact, and went through the mirror,
along with the rest of him. As he landed on something soft and malleable,
his first thought was one of consternation. Had he somehow landed on that
young woman? She had to be one of the No, she _was_ the most beautiful,
kind and compassionate face he had ever seen, and the mere thought that her
first impression of him would be that of a clumsy fool tripping onto her was
enough to make him blush in embarrassment. As he attempted to stand up, and
prepared to apologize as best he could, he hoped she would not be too upset
at him.
"That would be very kind of you, sir, but it is not necessary. As
you can no doubt see, you did not land on me, so theres no need to
apologize." Turning in the direction of the voice, Keiichis heart was lost
at the sight before him. It was as if the words "Angelic Beauty" where
personally meant for her. She was an otherworldly beauty, floating a few
inches above the ground. The very air around seemed to bask in her glowing
form, accentuating every gesture. And yet, in spite of all this, she still
managed to project a sense of quiet comfort as she spoke. "As a matter of
fact, I should be the one apologizing to you. You should not have ended up
here, Mr. Morisato. Allow me to introduce myself, I am the goddess
Belldandy, at your service. And this is my workplace in the Heavens, the
Hall of Mirrors."
As she spoke, Keiichi could see the silvery Ground below him gently
ripple and shimmer, while numerous windows of multiple sizes and shapes
formed incredibly complex patterns all around them. To call the overall
effect breathtaking would not do it justice, but it is as close as human
language allows.
Noting his awestruck look, Belldandy pulled a couple of simple, yet
comfortable wooden chairs out of nowhere, and placed them facing each other,
(next to a small potted tree Keiichi had somehow overlooked, but something he
found strangely reassuring.) Grabbing a teakettle and a couple of mugs from
behind the tree, Belldandy invited him to sit down, poured some tea for both
of them, and continued her short monologue. "Because your heart is pure, and
you have been deemed worthy by the Kami, I have been empowered to grant you
one wish." There was a very subtle sense of expectancy in the way she spoke,
followed by an almost palpable sense of curiosity. "I must warn you,
however, that Kami reserves the right to enforce your wish as he sees fit.
There are also certain limitations to the types of wish you can make. You
cannot wish for more wishes, but you can wish for the end of the world, if
you so want it. We prefer not to deal with that type of person, but if that
is what you truly wish, it will be granted. You _can_ wish for power,
riches, to be irresistible to women, or any number of other things." After a
very short pause, she continued in a slightly quieter voice, but at a much
faster pace, "Youcouldalsowishformetobewithyouforever, if you so desired."
Upon saying that, she fell silent, and some of the glow around her dimmed
down, even as her cheeks reddened slightly in embarrassment as she looked
towards Keiichi, who was not quite sure how to handle this sudden turn of
events.

Well, that was It, just a slightly re-told version of K1 and Belldandy's 1st
meeting. What did everyone think? Let me know...
