Well, I'm replying to the list becuase this also concerns a 'fic I
wrote, and numerous comments I received on it, and I'm answering all at
the same time.
99.9% of the time Ryouga would wipe the floor with Kunou. Badly.
However, in my 'fic "Tainted Honor", Ryouga very, very narrowly defeats
Kunou, and both of them end up in the hospital. The justification for
this is simple; Kunou scores a lucky strike to Ryouga's head at the
beginning of the fight (when Ryouga foolishly charges straight at him),
and the impact causes an immediate and severe concussion. Therefore,
Ryouga's not "all there", so to speak, during the fight.
The point here is that in any given fight, either party can win, if the
right circumstances are fulfilled. On the other hand, when one party is
vastly stronger, faster, and more skilled than the other, as is the case
with Ryouga and Kunou, a victory for the underdog requires extreme
circumstances to justify.
