I think that may have been done, though I can't recall the name of the
story. Here's an alternate timeline I thought up the other day.
What if Ranma and Genma didn't live at the Tendos'?
To be more specific, it starts out the same way, but after Ranma gets
hit by the table, Soun tells Genma he has a friend who runs another dojo
and has taken ill. Soun convinces Genma to take over the dojo for his
friend and live _there_ instead of with the Tendos.
Really, arranging an engagement and then putting the involved parties in
the same house is kind of unusual, isn't it? Ranma is "encouraged" to
court Akane, but they aren't living together.
So how would things be different? Would Ranma still fall for Akane if
he wasn't living in the same house with her day in and day out? Would
he ever grow close to her?
More, does this mean Shampoo would have a real shot when she shows up
the second time? Or Ukyou? Or Kod-...... nahh.
I guess the basic premise for this would be, "What if Ranma was the sole
star of 'Ranma 1/2' and Akane was just one of the supporting characters,
rather than co-star?"
Anybody want this one?
