Personally I thought the analysis you passed on was very interesting
and
silly. I'm not sure why you felt impelled to break what you yourself
consider to be a rule of netiquette to pass it on.
(Except of course that it almost stands as a work of fanfic in it's own
right and thus is appropos list fodder.)
people, please keep in mind that fanfic authors want comments that
are relevant to how they can improve a fic, corrections they need to
make, scenes they could expand, change, or remove, and general
fic-related business as that, aside from the odd spam thread which
pops up on the list.
Funny, you forgot two other important reasons why most fanfic authors
want C&C. To be praised for their genius, and to be assured that
there's someone out there who read it at all.
Now to be sure, you might prefer to be praised for how funny your fic
is, but being praised for how clever your gimmicks are isn't chopped
liver. At least you got him involved.
So, in the balance, I think I disagree. Any mail, (that isn't so
abusive as to be frightening), is good mail.
