Alright! I've finally finished the first draft of this damn story!
Wooh HOOO! Uh, sorry about that, it takes me way too long to
write, so please bear with me.
Anyway this is the continuation of my Timelords story, an
original production, which crosses over with the Sailor Moon
continuity. If you don't know what happened in Timelords then
I'll be happy to supply you with that story, just send your requests, C&C,
and other assorted neato stuff to
bastion@ix.netcom.com
This is my first draft, so if it seems extordinarily ackward, you'll know why.
Disclaimers: Sailor Moon is owned by Deeeek! and the ever so kind
Naoko Takeuchi, who I know will forgive me for doing this, hopefully.
As for everything else, it's Bastion's, well in a metaphysical way.
Terrible Things to Waste
Prologue
In the mist of the concealing fog, a lone figure stood guard
over a vast darkness. The figure stared out straight ahead
holding firm her ornate staff. Her staff closely resembled a
key with the exception of the red orb resting in a heart
shaped confines at the end of it, a marvelous object indeed.
Only the beauty of the woman holding this staff surpassed its
radiance, with her dark hair that had hightlights of dark green,
sleak body, and tanned skin. Yet the woman did not hold the
same convictions, beauty only reminded her of the painful
memories of the past, present, and future of her nearly ageless
lifetime. Her only conviction was her duty vested by the
representive of the planet Pluto to do. The duty to guard the
Time Gate against any intruders from disturbing Destiny's plan,
meaning that she was to be cursed with living a long, lonely,
agonizing life.
Her lips frowned slightly at this thought, hardly noticeable
infact as not to let any sign of outward emotion show, not that
it mattered in the vast isolation of the Time Gate. She wished
and envied the very people she had to protect who lived in the
time stream, Princess, (and future Queen of Crystal Tokyo),
Serenity and her protectors in real time, the Sailor scouts.
She envied the freedom they had to let Fate decide their future,
and lead a normal linear life. Even considering that they have
magical powers and all the great mass of evil they've beaten,
their lives were considerably more normal than hers. Having to
decide what to take care of, getting involved, or just letting
things happen, like it or not, by far made her the more unique
scout of the nine. She had to be the most powerful of them too,
including Sailor Saturn, who's power could destroy entire
planets quite easily. No, she had something they all lacked,
power to control Fate and Destiny, moving in whatever direction
in time she wanted, because she lived outside its laws and
boundaries. What power that Fate and Destiny gave her; power to
decide one's future or past, or make the world even better than
ever imaginable! But, alas no.
'Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.' the guardian of the
Time Gate thought, remembering the old adage.
An adage that still, even for it's simplicity, explained the
complicated manner of why she and only she has the postition of
guardian, for she had the patience and responsiblity to carry
out her duty without the temptation of abusing it.
She then reminisced about her brief periods in the time stream,
but only to fulfill her duty to ensure that certain events
happened the way they were and are suppose to. She even
remembered some of the aliases she had, Setsuna, Sarah, Sharon,
etc, but she ended up being known as Susan for her most
sucessful business venture, (not that none of her other ventures
were not), went under that alias. Personally she didn't like
the name, but that was something that a guardian of time didn't
concern herself.
Suddenly the woman broke out of her trance and opened her eyes
attentively. Something distrubed the fog, making it shift in an
odd manner. Only very few things could shift the Time Tunnel
and she knew the Princess, Small Lady, had
come through earlier. She waited a moment longer as the shift
continued, she could not only see the shift, she could feel it
as her gut twisted and turned in apprehension. Something wasn't
right. Could Small Lady be returning? No, the shift was
lasting too long for her to come through. It was something big,
unexpected, and foreign disturbing the darkness of time making
it realign. In witnessing this spectacle, she came to the same
conclusion when things of this manner happened: she DID NOT
like the unexpected, especially ones in this manner.
"What's doing this?" the dark haired woman whispered hoarsely
under her breath as she felt two, no three things passed fluidly
and swiftly through the Time Tunnel almost all at once, and then a
pause and finally a fourth.
She could not let anything intrude into this time stream, that
was her underlying duty. Her eyes darted around in the fog
looking for the intruders with her staff held ready to repel
them, yet none appeared. They had somehow bipassed the Time
Gate entirely, but how?
"It can't be. . .but they don't. . . unless. . ." the guardian
pondered as she trailed off and realized that something was
going to happen, something she had no control over what so ever.
Hastily she took her staff and opened the Time Gate, departing
the infinite darkness to the last location of the shift, Tokyo
of 1999.
Terrible Things To Waste
Part 1: Just Call Me Cindy
The night passed by seemingly peaceful and uneventful. The
stars millions of miles away had shown brightly compared to the
lights emmited by the nearby city. A girl with two glorious
blonde haired two pony tails cascating out from her head
observed these stars from the comfort of her room through her
window. She was in deep thought as she wrote down her memoirs,
detailing her somewhat unusual life or lives as she discovered.
She cited that someday someone in the future would want to read
them later on, considering who she was, and besides a certain
someone she knew had published "The Autobiography of Sailor V"
unbeknowst to her.
"Where to begin, where to begin," she said out loud.
"Well, Serena, you could start about how you found me," a
proper and stern voice rang out from across her room from where
a black cat with a yellow cresent moon on its forehead stood on
the corner of a bed with ears perted, listening attentively.
"That would clear up some of the confusion," the cat continued
as it narrowed its eyes and gave a wry smile, "It's not like
they would be confused enough with you're horrible grammar
anyway."
The blonde smiled knowingly at the cat as she picked her up off
the bed and proceeded to prance around her room, "Of course
Luna, I couldn't leave out the most important feline in my life."
Luna smiled to herself momentarily, there wasn't a time too
long ago that this girl would have cried her eyes at from such
an insult, but then the girl had quite a problem with maturity.
Yet this girl had gone through quite an ordeal and had finally
had realized who she was and what she needed to do.
She remembered back during her arduous search for Princes
Serenity of the Silver Millenium reincarnate. Upon finding her,
in the form of Serena, she couldn't believe that such a noble
soul, could exist within such an irritable, lazy, whiny, little
ditz. Yet as time wore on, she saw how Serena's duty as Sailor
Moon fighting for love and justice against powerful foes she
encountered tested her strength and made her grow. These
battles she fought slowly transformed her into a noble and
caring leader she was destined to be.
Still Serena wasn't perfect and her old habits did reoccur
every once in a while, but they were few and far between. Her
friends, her fellow Sailor Scouts, or more specifically her
friendly arch-rival Raye, noticed the change in Serena's
character. Granted, Serena and Raye still had their differences
and arguements, little did those arguements get ridiculous to
the point of sticking their tongues at each other like they
used. Also her disagreements with her pink-haired daughter,
Reenie, from the future started to react to Serena differently.
Instead of having a conflict about everything, they started to
compromise with each other, and leading them to be content to be
within five feet of each other. The one most probably most
pleased and proud with Serena's development was her fiancee
Darian. He had never let Serena's akwardness and habits get in
the way of his undying love for her, (plus the fact he was
Reenie's future father), but it did get on raw of the nerves.
"What is it Luna?" Serena momentarily put the black feline
down upon the bed and looked at her with concern.
"Oh, nothing imparticular," Luna to the opportunity to stretch
and relax her fury body, "Things on the mind, you know."
Serena smiled warmly at her talking pet, even though it
critized more than talk. She herself couldn't help but remember
her shock when Luna first spoke to her, telling her she
possessed powers of remarkable magnitude. She looked down at
her blank notebook and started to ponder how to explain it all.
Would she talk about how she saved the world from a periless
odds, not once, not twice, but five times? Or would tell her
audience of her knowledge that she will become the future queen
of a great kingdom, or should she?
'No,' she thought, 'I should tell them my whole story of being
Sailor Moon.'
At first, she remembered her reluctance at first about
accepting her destiny as a Sailor Scout since she was loosing a
sense of normalicy by doing so. Yet as she went further down
the path, she discovered that were others out there that were
just like her, adolescent girls with magical powers, and then
she didn't feel so lonely. Though they had their quirks with
each other, they eventually bonded together to fight against any
evils that reared its ugly head. Over the years, she grew to
appreciate the comfort they offered her through all the rough
times in her life, even when she did annoy them to no end.
"There's so much to tell, Luna," Serena signed, "It seems
impossible to write it all down."
Luna smiled at Serena, and purred, "Just take your time,
Serena. There's no rush."
Serena smiled once more at her cat and resided to sit on her
bed to scratch the spot on the back of her feline friend. Luna
arced her back and purred showing her satisfation, and Serena
yawned.
"It's late Serena, let's not worry about your memoriors until
tomorrow." Luna suggested before she in turned yawned.
Serena nodded in agreement and went to her closest to pick out
her nightgown.
Suddenly a loud, desperate pounding came from the front door.
Serena looked at her cat with a sense of confusion. She dropped
the nightgown on her bed and proceeded to leave her room. As
she went down the stairs the knocking became more desperate and
louder.
"I'm coming, I'm coming, jeez." Serena whispered to herself as
the knocking continued.
Who could it be? Could it be Raye, but then why would she
bother her at this time of night. In fact why would any of her
friends be pounding at her door this late without calling her
first. Then she thought of the possiblity that it was Darien,
and knowing that her parents and her brother were gone for the
weekend visiting her aunt in Nagano, made each step down the
stairs a little more anxious.
'Very convenient.' Serena thought as not particularly
virtuious possiblities entered her mind.
Of course Luna decended the stairs quickly and gracefully,
beating Serena to the bottom. Serena's increased eagerness to
open the door worried her, especially when she got the wry grin
on her face, indicating that she was thinking of her fiancee.
"Now Serena be weary, you don't know who's at the door. It
could be some hulligan or weirdo." Luna cautioned sternly as
Serena reached the well pounded door.
"Oh don't worry Luna, if worse comes to worse I can just change
and zap them" Serena winked at her cat and dramatically flung
the door open, "Darien!"
What beheld the two was not the tall, dark haired handsome
prince they both had come to know, but a ragged, weary blonde
haired women panting and sweating as if she had just run a
marathon. When the women saw Serena, an instant expression of
relief came across her face and nearly tackled Serena to the
ground.
"Oh thank the Lords, I've found you! I am in need of your
help, Sailor Moon!" the anxious woman blurted.
Serena feeling quite uncomfortable and completely taken off
guard by this woman's knowledge of her secret identity, could
only muster nervously, "Uhhh, what? No, uh, I'm not her at
all, you must be mistakened."
She heard a very audible sign of disapointment from her
guardian cat, as the woman gave Serena a confounded look.
"Well, aren't you Sailor Moon?" the woman thought for a
moment, "Oh, wait, are you going by Princess Serenity or it is
Neo-Queen Serenity? I never can quite get the titles straight."
Both Luna and Serena exchanged glances of surprise at the
woman's knowledge of Serena's other past and future personas.
The woman looked at Serena with a look of apprehension as she
smiled nervously at their silence.
"Serena, what's going on? Who's at the door? Is it Darien?!"
came a young, shriel voice from the top of the stairs, and in a
flash a pink haired girl in light blue nightgown was down the
stairs before Serena could utter any protest.
"Darien!" the little girl exclaimed in her cute, yet annoying
way as she blindly leaped at the stranger from the second step.
The young girl's excitement quickly faded as she noticed that
the chest she clutched was much softer and rounder that the
muscler, broad one she had expected. The shocked little girl
let go and looked up at a blonde woman smiling down at her.
"You must be the crowned princess of Crystal Tokyo." the woman
said playfully, "I'd recognized that color hair anywhere."
The child had almost the same reaction as Serena as all she
could muster was saying, "Uhhh, you must be mistaken, I don't
know what you're talking about."
"Who is this woman?" the girl growled softly to Serena between
her smile as she giggled nervously.
"Yes, who are you?" Luna directly questioned, coming to the
conclusion that if the woman knew this much, a talking cat
wouldn't be much of a surprise.
"She is a Traveller, a meddler of events and destinies."
answered a stern and slightly aggitated voice from behind the
blond stranger.
All turned their attention to a tanned skinned woman with dark
green hair holding a large staff a glowing red orb, the young
girl regonized her immediately.
"Puu?" she asked to woman dressed in the fuku, "What are you
doing here?"
The tanned woman stepped forward towards the blonde almost
looming over her with the staff, "I am here to remove this
uninvited Traveller from this time stream."
Then the tanned woman directed her attention to the stranger,
"Your distrubance has probably caused enough change to the
future already."
The blonde woman remained calm, even against the other's cold
stare, "I was expecting you to be upset, Time Guardian. . .
Sailor Pluto, I believe, but I am in urgent need, since other,
'Travellers,' have persued me here."
"All the more for you to leave." the dark haired woman
retorted coldly, "If you leave, the others will surely follow."
"But that won't do any good, they'll tear the city apart
looking for me." the blond's tone had a slight edge to it, but
remained subtly calm, "And it doesn't matter if I'm here or not,
they will definitely destroy the city. So helping me defeat
them now will be the most profitable action, preserving the
possible futures you foresee."
The Time Guardian gave the Traveller an unforgiving look, and
the blonde seeing she made no impression on her, turned her
attention to Serena.
"Sailor Moon, or Serenity, please listen to my pleas." the
blond's tone dramatically changed to one of distress, "I am with
a rebel group, called the Society, that is fighting the against
the corruption of my world. I've seen them kill many of my
friends and they even excuted my family before my very eyes."
The blond pointed to her watery eyes bringing emphasis to her
words as she finished, "And letting Pluto remove me from this
time stream will bring me to that same fate. Please help me
fight for justice and all that's good! You're my only hope
left."
Serena was taken off guard once again by the blonde Traveller's
actions. She couldn't help but notice the emotion that flowed
and her sheer humility to put herself at Serena's mercy. This
touched her and felt she had no choice but to stand up for her
as she had with others when others gave them no hope.
"She stays." Serena stated softly.
Both Luna and Reenie gaped in shock at Serena's assertion,
contrary to one so wise and powerful. Sailor Pluto showed
indifference at Serena's comment, only her dark, percying eyes
showed a feeling of betrayal.
"My Queen, I think you might take into account that these
Travellers offer nothing but trouble, the consequnces of their
actions that no one, not even I, can ultimately predict," Pluto
informed, in a tone comparable to a parent lecturing a child,
"thus it would be wise not to involve all of us in their
problems."
Serena stepped back for a moment from Pluto's imposing stance
and then narrowed her eyes, lifted her head to meet the Time
Guardian's gaze, and stated with the confidence of royalty, "I
fight for love, justice, and helping those who are in need.
This woman is in need of our help, and I am not going to sit
here and have you make the decisions of who needs it and who
doesn't. I wouldn't be Sailor Moon, or your Queen if I ignored
her pleas."
Luna stared in amazement at Serena, the backbone she had been
growing for the past three years finally came to a head in the
form of her stuborness against Sailor Pluto. Reenie, on the
other hand, noticed how much Serena sounded like her mother in
Crystal Tokyo, and shook her head realizing that she was her
mother. Sailor Pluto herself was amazed, though doing her best
not showing it. She had wanted Serena to become more assertive
to become the future Queen she was meant to be and she saw her
improving steadily, but her timing couldn't be any worse. Yet
then again there was nothing she could do about this, since she
was at the mercy of Neo-Queen Serenity.
The Time Guardian signed to indicate her reconsideration, "You
make a good point your Highness, though I feel it is an error in
your judgement, I will permit this Traveller stay here, but I
will put her some place, where she will be protected and safely
away from you."
The blonde looked with sudden optimisim at the turn of events
and excitedly hugged Serena, "Oh thank you Sailor Moon! I knew
you would understand!"
Serena smiled wearily and looked at the woman with
gradification, "Thanks I guess, but my I ask you something,
what's your name?"
The blonde let go of the girl and smiled warmly, "My name is
Xendyte, but, please, just call me Cindy."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Stop thief!!" screamed the shop manager as a dark haired,
lanky man jetted out the door with an article of clothing.
A heavy-set man in a semi-formal attire bolted after the thief
down the street, knocking over many of pedestrians trying to
enjoy the cool autumn night. The thief quickly weaved in and
out of the crowds in front of the shops along the strip, losing
the obese store manager. The theif kept going until he found a
narrow dark alley to safely look over his stolen bounty. He
studied his bounty, a long, black trenchcoat, with great
satisfaction. It was made of material heavy enough to keep him
relatively warm on cold nights, and it looked as if it could
cover him completely. He chuckled to himself at his good
fortune as he put one arm through the trenchcoat, distracting
him from a gleam of light that appeared from behind the dumpster
further down the alley. The growing gleam of light eventually
caught the thief's eye. When he turned to look, he came face to
face with a smirking visage covered with long black locks of
hair. The theif gasped as he felt a barrel of a gun poking his
stomach. The theif stared in disbelief at the aggressor that
appeared from thin air, gazing at his unsual apparel, a simple
black jumpsuit that covered him from his neck to what looked to
be shoes.
"A timelord entering into your dimension, I bet you don't see
something like that everyday." laughed the black haired man as
he snapped his head back to remove the greasy locks from his
vision, revealing a long visible scar from the top of his right
brow to lower part of his cheek.
"Now give me your coat or I will kill you. . . slowly." he
huffed impatiently, and jabbed the gun harder into the thief's
stomach.
The thief quickly tore off the trenchcoat and ran for his life
out the alley, letting the coat fall to the ground. The man
picked up the trenchcoat on the damp pavement of the alley and
surveyed his location. He noticed all the litter lining the
sides of the alley and the heavy smell of garbage from the
dumpster to his left. The radiance of neon across the street in
front of him and the full moon high in the night sky were about
the only things lighting the dark alley, and by the symbols
flashing in the window of the small shop visible across the
alley entrance he confirmed his location.
Tokyo.
'This coat should keep me inconspicuous enough,' the man
thought as he slipped on the heavy material, 'and they still
think I'm dead in that explosion, so that's to my advantage.'
Suddenly a soft roar of a small engine caught the man's ear, a
sound he associated with one thing. He had only a split second
to dive behind the dumpster before the pavement he stood upon
was blasted to rumble. The black haired man peeked around the
dumpster to see a big, armored mecha suit landing in front of
the exit of the alley, a suit occupied by an old advesary.
"Malance, " he whispered hoarsely under his breath as he
groped for both his guns, "Damn it, there goes my element of
surprise!"
The smiling operator's face was hidden behind a dark visor of
his helmet connected by circuitry to the broad shoulders on
either side. The armor was equiped with a large cannon on its
right arm and a claw hand on the other. The thick reflective
metal protected every inch of the eight feet tall frame that
loomed over anything in its path, specificly its target behind
the dumpster a few feet away.
"So timelord Tracer, you survived the blast at that old
warehouse, the general will be interested on this piece of
news," came an amplified voice of Malance from within the suit,
"as well as how I disposed of you."
The man could feel the cannon on the right arm of the suit
aiming at the dumpster as he heard the heavy metallic footsteps
come closer.
'This is no time to think, just react.' the man thought before
he shot up and started to open fire upon his opponent.
The man's guns, though as small as a regular handgun, inflicted
a lot of damage to the mecha suit as it started to stagger
backwards. Malance, seeing he underestimated his opponents
firepower, responded quickly to the timelord's attack by firing
repeatedly at his general location. Unfortunately, the
penetrating bullets made his targeting system malfunction, thus
he missed his mark. The man easily ducked out of the way of the
poorly aimed shots, but instead the shots blasted away the part
of the wall behind him. The resulting avalanche of bricks from
the collapsed wall buried the man and the entire area of the
narrow alley. Malance paused for moment to get his bearings,
saw the rumble he created, and quickly started to search through
the rumble for his fallen enemy. After a few moments of clawing
through the pile of bricks, a voice came over his communicator.
"Malance, why have you not reported back to base." the cold
and irritated voice of his general ordered.
"I was delayed, General." Malance quickly said, trying to hide
the nervousness caused by the aggitated tone of the General's
voice.
"I am dissapointed in you, Malance," the unemotional voice
continued without acknowledegment ofhis soldier's answer, "I
don't want delays."
"Yes, General." Malance barked without hessitation.
Malance charged up the thrusters on the back of the tall metal
suit and growled under his dark visor, "I will relish killing
you, timelord."
As the mecha suit disapeared into the darkness of night, the
man emerged from underneath the pile of rumble, looking up into
the starry night sky. Now his only advantage became obsolete,
and they would surely be expecting him.
'They will die, Halebit, Malance, and Xendyte, all of the
Society must die.' Tracer fumed to himself as he stared
intently at the full moon.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the blonde Traveller and the Time Guardian dissappeared in
a flash of red light, Serena, Luna and Reenie ascended the
stairs in shocked silence, going to their respective rooms.
Serena quietly entered and sat on her bed, still trying to sort
out what she was feeling or what she should be feeling.
"Are you sure that I made the right decision, Luna?" Serena
questioned.
Luna paused a moment to think, "I'm not sure, Serena. You did
what was morally right in your eyes, but Pluto doesn't usually
make statements like that lightly."
Serena stared out her window once more, her silence acknowledging
Luna's statement. She stared at the tickling of the stars, hoping that maybe they
might give her some condolence.
Luna looked at Serena with a look of concern, "How do you
suppose the others will take this?"
Serena stayed silent for a long moment still looking out her
window, focusing on the full moon, "Probably not too well, but
either way, we'll definitely find out tomorrow."
Breaking out of her trance, Serena opened a drawer near her bed and
found a thin device which looked similar to a credit card. She pressed a button
near the bottom, and an image of a drowsy girl with short blue haired appeared
near the top left hand corner.
"Amy, it's time for an emergency Scout meeting."
To be continued. . . .
Well thank you much for reading, as always with any author, I am foaming at
the mouth for C&C, so please if you have any thing to offer, please do.
