All right, not to offend any of you who are involved but, we really need to
take this thread to private e-mail. It's gone from a discussion of Amazon
law into a Mousse skill/character debate--which is prohibited in the faq. If
you have an opinion about Mousse, Shamps, or any other anime character write
a fic that illustrates your opinion.

Personaly I think that the reason Mousse doesn't chalenge
Shampoo is that he loves her too much to hurt her. He might
easily hurt her in the process of defeating her. Also mabey he
is so good because he is trying to get good enough to defeat
her without hurting her.

Okay, remember that this is just my opinion (yeah, so of course now I'm
going to say something inflamatory). Anyway, it seems to me that a lot
of authors seem to have this misconception that Mousse is an extremely
skilled fighter who's only impediment (and a big one) is that his
eyesight is horrendous.  It's a given that Mousse is a very good fighter;
growing up as an Amazon will do that for you. But if a lot of fics I've
read, whenever Mousse gets his eyesight fixed (through contacts (why
doesn't he just go out and get some???), magical eyepieces, a spell,
etc.), he becomes this mega-powerful, untouchable martial artist (and
then he proceeds to wipe the floor with Ranma). I agree that his skill
level would increase almost exponentially -- his hearing does a good job
of compensating for his lack of vision. But why does that mean he would
be able to defeat Ranma?

Would his attacks come faster?
No, usually Mousse doesn't intentionally hold back.

Would his aim become more precise?
Obviously, but that doesn't mean Ranma wouldn't be able to avoid them.

Would his arsenal increase in number?
No, so that doesn't help him in any way.

So basically, he's just a much improved fighter who, IMHO, still wouldn't
be able to defeat Ranma. Anyway, I digress. Well, that was supposed to
bring me to this point. If Mousse is constantly beaten handily by Ranma,
what makes people think if Mousse were to seriously fight Shampoo he'd
win. Remember, Shampoo is probably the martial artist who's skill comes
closest to Ranma (excluding Happosai and Cologne). So why do people
think Mousse is just holding back against Shampoo. I DO agree, though,
that even IF he were good enough, he wouldn't fight Shampoo for fear of
hurting her. But what I don't believe, though, is that he is good enough
to do that. Anyway, everything is IMHO. I had no intention of pissing
anyone off, so please don't start an arguement over the mailing list.
