Gomen nasai. I got a reply from someone on the Shampoo post I just
sent
out. I made a big mistake. When I said that Shampoo was "probably the
martial artist who's skill comes closest to Ranma (excluding Happosai
and
Cologne)," I didn't specify that I was talking about the Nermina
regulars
ONLY. Also, I'm of course incorrect because Ryouga is probably a
better
fighter than Shampoo as well. So with those exceptions, I still think
my
statement is valid. Hehe. Nice save or an easy way out....? Ja.

Depends, if you equate skill with fighting ability then you need your
save.

If you take skill as being techniques known and training done then
I'd rate Shampoo as the most skilled of the Nerima Teen's.

Ryouga is apparently self-taught, Ukyou is mostly self-taught, Akane
and the Kunou's don't seem to have started until they were about 8 or 9
years old.

Not much is known of Mousse's training, however as his master
never shows in the series, you can probably safely assume Mousse
was not a favoured student in the fashion Ranma & Shampoo were and
was probably not pushed by his teacher they way Ranma & Shampoo
were.

>From what is said in the series, Shampoo and Ranma are the only
two trained from childhood (by elders). Shampoo has an advantage
here in that she had a better teacher, however Ranma comes out as
a better fighter for 2 main reasons:

1> Ranma appears to be a faster learner than Shampoo (of Martial
Arts anyway).

2> Ranma was only taught Martial Arts, and only 1 style of Martial
Arts.
Shampoo has demonstrated proficiency in at least 3 weapons (Sword,
Bon-bori and spear), unarmed combat, "shampoo techniques" and
displayed some knowledge of pressure points. Related skills in many
ways to be sure, but a much wider base of knowledge than Ranma ever
displays. Shampoo just isn't as developed in her combat ability because
she had to learn more than Ranma.

Shampoo was trained to become a village leader (and still has a way to
go)
while Ranma was trained to be a Martial Artist with all other skills
deemed
un-necessary.
