Possible, but not necessarily so... the incident could well have altered
his genetic structure... in which case, his children would have a high
chance of being mutants.

His genetic structure -is- altered--at least, I believe it is--he was
pondering on the difference between himself, a 'mutate', and a
mutant--which was not overly much, to his thinking.  Much like Franklin
Richards, Parker's children have the possibly higher chance of being
'mutants', although not necessarily with the powers of the father.
