Hello FFML people, the next chapter here. **Run! Run away!**
I'd like to thank the few people who wrote to me and commented on this
Fanfic, I very much appreciate it.
And I very sorry that I did not write back to you. I could make up stupid
excuses, but I really don't feel like it at this time. Oh, what the heck,
I'll give you this one: I hate exams very much, although I didn't study
that hard on them and thus failed miserably, I did not have the time to
write back to you.
To finish this stupid little blurb off I'd like to tell you that this
chapter really sucks! But I consider it a necessary bump in the road.

Chapter 1: Program Restart

Ikari Shinji, the pilot of the bio-mecha Evangelion Unit 01, let out a
furious cry as he slashed the hot blade deep into the 'heart', of the Angel.
The Angel, which looked something like Sakiel only with four arm-like
apendages and a head that had three 'eye-sockets' instead of just two. The
Angel, although it did not have a mouth, screamed as the blade sliced the
glass like 'heart'. Blood, redder than anything ever produced, oozed out
of the wound. It flowed out in a steady stream, coating the hands and arms
of Unit 01.
Shinji gritted his teeth as he listened to the Angel's angonizing wail.
"Shut up, shut up, shut up!" he shouted through clenched teeth. He drove
the blade deeper, the Eva's hands now within the Angel's 'heart'.
'Why did I come back?!' Shinji began to think. 'I don't want to do this,
I don't want to fight.' He forced the blade forward ever so slightly, into
the screaming Angel.
'I want to run away. I have to run away... No! I won't. I'll stay. I've
got to. I'll rid the world of these monsters. Why does it keep
screaming?!' The Angel's arms clawed at the Eva. Desperate to achieve a
grip on it. It only succeeded in scratching the Eva mildly.
'I'll do it. I won't run away. I musn't run away! Why am I doing this?
Why am I piloting Eva? I don't want to. I really don't want to.'
"Shut up!!!" Shinji yelled, the words coming out as one prolonged cry.
The blade forced itself straight through the Angel. The Angel stopped
moving, now horrifically impaled upon Unit 01's arm.
Misato's face appeared on a viewing screen in front of Shinji. "Good work
Shinji-kun."
Shinji just glared at her. His breathing was eratic, tiny beads of sweat
speckled his brow. 'It was her who brought me back to this horrid place.
Her who brought me back to this cursed place called Nerv.'
Shinji thought back to the day, only a few weeks ago really. The day he
recieved the call from Misato...

Somewhere in Tokyo-2, the sounds of a cello sounded through out the
household. Shinji, played on. He was only silenced by the sound of the
telephone ringing next to him.
"Moshi moshi." he answered. Setting the cello and bow down beside him.
"Uh... Shinji?" came a sheepish voice.
"Misato-san?" asked Shinji happily. His happiness faltured when he
realized that this wasn't a simple greeting call.
"Yes, it's me. Shinji, I-I'm afraid that I have something to ask of you."
Shinji had a sinking feeling in his stomach, "Yes, what is it?"
	"Shinji, we need you back."
	"Back?"
"Yes, back at NERV. The-the Angels have returned."
	Silence.
"I know that you don't want to come back. But Asuka's in Germany now and
Rei isn't available. We would get Tougi, but he can't be found, and-and
th-there's no avaliable Eva at the moment, to-to have some one come and
secronize with it. Please Shinji came back!" Misato had begun to
breakdown. It was obvious that she hadn't wanted to, but just taking about
it must have been the realization of how much trouble they were really in.
Still silence from the opposite end.
"Shinji! Please! We need you! We need you to pilot Eva again!"
	"yes..."
"I-I know that you've had problems with Eva...?" Misato stopped. Had she
heard right? "Did, did you say yes?"
	"Yes."
"You'll pilot?!" she squeeled with happiness.
	"Yes."
"Oh, Shinji! You don't know what this means to us! I-I'll arrange for
tickets on a train and, and, oh, Shinji!"
	"Yes. Well until then Misato..."
"Right, until then..." she was about to continue talking, but he had
already hung up.

****************************************************************************
**************

Misato stared at the phone reciever. The dial tone buzzing uninterrupted.
After a few seconds of blank thought she placed the pone back into it's
craddle.
She looked around the office. Nerv. It had been re-opened and was still
being rennovated. The rennovations were coming along slowly, but surely.
Misato sighed and looked around her. She had been happy when she had
discovered that they were re-opening Nerv. She had been surprised when she
found out that every one who had worked here before had volintarily come
back to their old jobs, and naturally their were several new workers. Yet,
now, looking around, Misato wondered if it was the right choice for her.
She had an errie feeling that she was being watched all of the time. She
knew that there must be countless new hidden camera's located around the
place. Just one of the many new sercurity measures.
Perhaps it was for the best that she had returned. She was getting tired
of being out of work and having nothing to do all day.
She let out a sigh and focused on the phone again. Then casting a look
around once more, she picked up her Nerv tm coffee mug and left.

****************************************************************************
**************

Shinji stared at the phone he had just set down. He put his hands to the
sides of his head. Had he just done what he swore he'd never do again?
Had he agreed to pilot Evangelion Unit 01 again? Yes he had, he realized
slowly.
He didn't want to pilot again though. That was why he left. To escape,
to escape the awful place called NERV.
He remembered back to all of the battles he had back then. The battles,
the horrors that accompanied them. He hated the memories, and now he would
have to relive them?! He hated the idea of having to return.
He remembered the last few weeks of being with NERV. When he had, or
rather had to, kill Kaworu. He hated all of those memories.
After killing Kaworu, he had run away. He didn't like to call it that,
but he knew that's what it was. Running away, again. He just got up and
left. This time he didn't look back until he was 'safetly in Tokyo-2.
There were times when he did regret leaving without saying good-bye. He
regreted not being able to visit Asuka or Touji in the hospital, one last
time. Just to make sure that they were doing better. He regreted not
being able to see Rei, silent and cold as she was, one last time. He found
him-self regreting to 'talk' with his father, one last time. He even
regreted not being able to sample Misato's cooking, one last time.
But he just wanted to be out of there as soon as possible.
He didn't want to be betrayed again. He didn't want to be hurt again. He
didn't want to be lonely again. He didn't want to be hated.
All of this in mind Shinji got up reluctantly to go tell his newest
caretaker that he would be leaving soon.

****************************************************************************
**************

Shinji stepped out of the plug system. He rubbed a hand through his hair,
a few drops of liqiud sprinkled out.
He looked up to see Misato walk towards him.
"Shinji. You did great. How are you?" she said, doing her best to sound
cheerful around him.
Shinji looked at her then at the floor. "It was hard." he said flatly.
"What do you mean?" asked Misato.
"I need help. I might not be able to fight the next Angle alone."
"I see. Well, we'll contact Asuka and ask her if she'll come back. As
for Rei... we'll see..." she looked at the ground also. "Maybe the Magi
system can find a sixth child."
The two stood in silence for a few rather uncomfortable minutes before
Shinji finally took it upon himself to leave.

****************************************************************************
**************

He, Ikari Gendou, stood in the presence of the Dummy Plug system. Or what
used to be, before it was destroyed. He looked at the huge containment
unit in front of him. The unit that held Rei. Ayanami Rei, the third of
them at least, and the last. She slept within the unit floating nude in
some sort of orange liquid. LCL.
Although she had been in a state of sleep for the last year, Commander
Ikari had kept the system on and visited her frequently. He watched her
grow in the last year. She had started to mature into a young woman, and
it showed.
"Soon you shall be re-awakened. Able to join in the fight once more." he
said more to himself than to her. Mainly because she wouldn't have been
able to hear him anyway.
As Gendou watched Rei float lifeless in there, he had the uneasy feeling
that he himself was being watched. He looked around at the glass walls
that once contained the many copies of Rei.
"Laughter?" he said quietly. He could have sworn that he heard some one
laughing. He turned around, staring at the clear walls he thought that he
saw something moving in the orange liquid.
Feeling uneasy he cast a last lingering look at Rei and left.
A child-like laughter echoing in the room.

End Chapter 1

So did you like it?! Please say that you did!
I may have gotten some things wrong in here I know, but since I don't have
the series on tape and can't find a decent summary worth $H!T on the net,
I'm sort of winging it here, 'kay?
I realize that it's not very interesting in here. Please have patience, I
will build up the story line in the future. Don't think that it's going to
be like this all the way through, dear god no! I love action packed
scenes, it's one of the reasons I watch Eva. So I shall be writing a few
of my own soon.
Also I know that my rendition of the new Angel sucked! Let me get the
brain working to get some more interesting ones.
