So here's my suggestion. Take this story and remove all the Ranma
elements. Redesign the characters as needed. Expand it out to novel
length. Detailing all the new characters that you described here with a
name should take care of that. Then send it off to a publisher.
Really.

I don't think this would work, because a lot of the suspense and
interest of the story comes from our preconception of who Ranma is.
I mean, this is a great story, but lots of books have been written in
the same genre, and you need something special to attract interest.
If you make this a generic story, I have the feeling that it would
just be a generic story.

There are other problems, like the characters' incredible martial
arts skill and archaic standards of honor, which would be difficult
to explain or justify in a normal novel.

Another problem is that some of the characters who seem to fit in to
us, because we know and expect them from the original Ranma series,
would seem inserted, unecessary, and distracting in a generic story.
Ukyou's the best example of this.

Perhaps most importantly, the serial format does a great deal to
enhance the suspense. This would be lost in publication as a novel.

My general comments: another good chapter, but the detail seemed a
bit sparse. A little more description would do a great deal.

Nabiki had better stay dead.
