Azusa-chan mimzy@ie.netcom.com A Ranma / real life crossover =) Okay, in case you can't tell, this here is my very first fanfic. I got the inspiration from a little daydream I often have. If anyone should have been and anime character, it should have been me! Ranma 1/2 and all of it's characters are property of the wonderful Rumiko Takahashi. All rights reserved. All of the non-Ranma characters are either my own creativity doing it's worst or real people. There is some mild cursing. I would just like to state that this is not, may I repeat and stress *NOT* a hentai fic, nor do I plan for it to be any time in the near future. |Gomen|. Bare with me in the beginning! I just wanted to establish some sort of life for the two main characters. It's probably gunna be boring, but this is actually like a normalish day in my life. You should see our lunch time...I know it's kinda vain to put myself and my friends in the Ranmaverse, and you probably think I am a pathetic loser with no life and too much spare time (which I wont deny) but I am not writing this for fame and glory. I'm writing this cuz this is my daydream and I wanted to share it. Keep an eye out for these... }...{ Authors notes |...| Translated at bottom :...: Character thinking *****Reality is a Matter of Opinion***** Episode One: Fresh Life *ring* "Hello?" "Ruth, I did it. I know how!" The next five minutes were filled with screaming and yelling for joy. "Oh, that is so totally great! When will we be able to go through with it?" "Not for a week or so. It leaves you a little drained, but coming and going as quickly as I did, I'm really tired." Miriam sighed. "I'm so exhausted. I need to get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow?" "You bet your life you will!" Miriam hung up the phone. She had finally done it! So sick of normal life, she had finally drawn all her will power together and wished hard enough to enter into the realm of anime! But so tired...so...tired... The next day at school, Ruth slithered up to Miriam. "When are we gunna go?" Miriam took a breath. "Not for a week yet. I need to rest, because I lost a lot of energy, though it may be a bit easier now that I've got the hang of it. It's gunna take a lot of effort, I don't know if you'll make it." "I'll make it! You know I will! I don't see the point to all of this," Ruth said, gesturing around her. "Real life sucks, it's so boring." "Yeah, I know..." Miriam's sentence kind of wandered off, as in walked Mike and Lauren. "Ah, roller-coaster relationship of the year award, walking right towards us. Okay, so maybe that all in itself is interesting." Lauren was talking to Mike in a very scolding manner, and he was blatantly on the defensive. "But not in a good way," Ruth put in. "You can say that again..." The bell rang, and Miriam walked to class after parting with Ruth as she walked down the science hall. Miriam continued down the main hall and saw Mike storming down the hall, apparently just parting ways with Lauren. As usual, she ignored him. When Miriam got to class, she asked Lauren what had happened *this* time... "He lied to me. *Again.* He cheated on me this weekend. *Again.* But that's okay, because I was flirting with you- know-who all weekend." Lauren winked. Miriam slapped her on the back good naturedly. "Ah, you go girl! Honestly, I sometimes don't understand why you put up with Mike..." Lauren scowled. "Well, this time I'm not taking him back." :Just like every *other* time,: Miriam thought, rolling her eyes. "I have warned him time and again, that if he decided to break another one of his promises to me, it was *over.* For good this time. Maybe I'll go out with..." Lauren was interrupted by the bell. She winked to let Miriam know who it was, not like she couldn't guess already. Lauren turned to her seat, but realized someone was already sitting in it. She shrugged and pulled up a chair. The week lingered. And lingered. And lingered. Mike and Lauren's relationship was patched when Lauren heard that Mike's friend lied about what had really happened. No one was surprised. Ruth kept bugging Miriam. "When can we go?" Miriam sighed and pushed her cute glasses up her nose. "Today after school. Don't bother asking anyone's permission to come over. If we don't make it, what's the big deal? You've gotten in trouble for worse." Ruth gave her an 'Oh, gee, thanks,' look. "If this works, we'll be long gone before anyone ever thinks to look for us." Ruth slid in closer. "How do you do it?" "I don't know if this is the only way but...I start watching the show I want to go into and then I just concentrated REALLY hard on how much I wish I was there and...Then there's this weird weightless feeling, like the floor fell out from under you. Then you hit the ground there, but it's like falling on a pillow. Though after that, it's hard. I should know. I got dizzy and toppled over!" Miriam rubbed her head at the painful memory. Ruth contemplated laughing at her, but thought better of it. The day passed slow but fast. She did her best to say good-bye discretely to everyone she would miss. Not that it was enough to keep her here. Lauren, her best friend, was the only one that she told. Lauren was shocked. "Why are you doing this? I can't believe you'd want to go! I thought you were in love with..." "I *am*," Miriam cut in. "But he's leaving soon, and I doubt he loves me back. So what's the point in staying? I don't want to be here when he goes," she murmured. When she saw a tear glimmer in Lauren’s eye, she hugged her. "Don't worry," Miriam whispered. "I'll come back to visit you. And I'll even teach you some time how to visit me." Lauren smiled, though the smile was forced and a bit wobbly. "I'll miss you, Rob-chan," she said, using her nickname. Miriam melted and nearly lost her resolve. "|Wo ai ni|, Bob-chan," she said, tears streaming down her face. She hugged her again and kissed her on the check. "I'll think about you every day. Don't...Don't forget me..." Miriam ran off, sobbing, to find Ruth. Ruth in the meantime was really happy. The only thing she regretted leaving behind was this one cute guy she enjoyed staring at on occasion, but she was going to a much better place with a good friend! She didn't have any tearful good-bye's because she didn't want to tell anyone where she was going. She saw Miriam running down the hall toward her. She was crying, *hard*. "Miriam, what's wrong?" Ruth asked, worried. Worried about Miriam and also worried she'd lose her nerve and change her mind. "N...Nothing. I just said good-bye to Lauren. I told her. I couldn't leave without telling her." Miriam looked at Ruth and gave her a watery smile. "You ready to go?" "You bet!" Ruth said, initiating a high-five. An hour (and a good cry) later, Miriam and Ruth were sitting lotus-style in front of and episode of Ranma 1/2. "So this is the best anime show to go into?" Ruth asked, looking skeptically at the box for Ranma 1/2. "Of course. The laws of anime physics there are amazing! No matter how bad someone gets hurt, none of them die. Some get hit and bounce right back like it was noting. They rarely sustain damage. And they can jump from roof to roof and..." "Jeez, it looks like you're picking it out just cuz you like to try to fly!" Ruth scoffed. "I have more sense than that," Miriam said, turning her nose up at Ruth daintily. "Sure," Ruth mumbled. "Whatever." They both grinned. "Now, at this point, you've got to be really *sure* you want to go. You can't have any loose strings or you won't make it, and even if you do, you won't last a day." Miriam thought about *him* for a second...Then she thought, with determination, :I *will* go. He won't be my loose string!: Ruth bared her teeth in a savage grin. They both had back-packs slung to their backs carrying the things they needed and wanted most. Miriam was carrying clothes and the candle Lauren gave her for Christmas. She opted against bringing her cat, considering where they were going. "I'm more ready now than I have ever been for anything in my *life*." Miriam took a deep breath and tried to clear her mind of all thoughts. Especially about...:Don't think about him, dummy!: "Okay, close your eyes and concentrate." She took Ruth's right hand in her left hand and squeezed it encouragingly. Five minutes and a near brain aneurysm later, the 'floor' dropped out from under them. Ruth all of a sudden decided to squeeze Miriam's hand tighter. Much tighter. If they weren't already part-way in the anime realm, she suspected something would have been broken by now. }Note: The person I count on for my 'second opinion' wasn't sure exactly how they got there. Its kinda like in Magic Knight Rayearth, how the princess prayed for peace. They focased their will power on what they wanted. Don't try this at home, kids. You'll pop a vein trying to do something even I haven't managed to get to work yet. =){ *Thump!* "Ow!" Saotome Ranma turned around. Two young girls he could have sworn weren't there before were kneeling down and rubbing their rumps in obvious pain. "I thought you said it was gunna be a soft landing!" one girl yelled at the other, who winced. The yelling girl hand long brown hair that fell strait down in a beautiful tangle. She had warm brown almost puppy-doggish eyes. She was medium tall and had a full figure, and moderately clingy clothes. Her eyes were wide and she had a medium sized mouth. She looked like she couldn't hurt a fly. The other girl had slightly shorter brown hair, but she wore it in a pig-tail just like his own. She had the bluest eyes that you would ever see. They caught the light in different ways and seemed to change shades at a whim. She had pouty lips and an even fuller figure. :I didn't think girls like that existed,: he thought, wonderingly. She was wearing a thin black shirt with long sleeves that just touched the top of her *short* shorts. She was somewhat tall for a girl, but not too tall. :Feisty,: he thought "What'd you go and do *that* for?" she yelled in the other girl's ear. "It *was* a soft landing last time, but I think you..." Ranma cleared his throat. "Are you two...Okay?" Ruth turned and gaped at what had to be the *BEST* looking guy she had ever seen. He was tall and *quite* well built, without looking like an ugly overstuffed mattress. He was wearing a blue Chinese shirt and black pants. He had a pig-tail just like Miriam's and oh my *GAWD* was he fine... Miriam, while also instantly in love, had much better self control. She already knew who this was (Saotome Ranma of the anything-goes school of martial arts!) and she expected to turn around and see him. "I'm...|Kawaii| |Yume| and this is |Kawaii| |Hana|. We're sisters. I'm older by a year. I'm...16 and she's 15." 'Hana' was now awake enough to glare at 'Yume' for making *her* the younger. "And you are...?" "I'm...Saotome Ranma." "Konnichiwa, Ranma-san. Could you help us? We're new to the area and we need a place to stay." Ranma smiled. "Well, Yume-san..." "Just Yume, please." "Well, Yume, I could see if you could stay at the Tendou Dojou with the Tendou's and my father and me." Miriam winked down at Ruth as if to say, See? I have everything in the bag! "That would be wonderful! What kind of dojou is it? I'd really like to learn some form of martial arts." Yume smiled up at him in her cutest possible manner. }Note: At this point, she no longer has glasses, even though she was cute in them too. She is wearing her contact lenses.{ "Yeah, I'm game!" Hana jumped in, with a little too much enthusiasm. :Great,: Miriam thought. :First sentence and she's already embarrassing me.: The 'sisters' were walking several paces behind Ranma and whispering among eachother. "Are you certain we're in anime?" Ruth whispered. "Look at your boobs, Ruth." Ruth looked down than back at Miriam. "Yeah? So what?" "They *exist*." "Oh. Yeah." "Look at it this way. We don't have to shave. Our bodies are perfect. We're broke, but we're still getting a place to stay. We get to live with a fine guy! Not to mention, I'm beautiful, where on earth I don't even think I classified as cute. I don't even think that bodily functions exist here! If we're not in anime, I'd say we died and at least *I* went to heaven!" Miriam threw a devilish grin at Ruth. "I think I'm gunna like it here." Akane was pacing back and forth in the Tendou Dojou. :Where the hell *is* he?: she thought angrily. :He was supposed to be here an *hour* ago!: Ranma walked in the door of the dojou with two *very* cute girls. "...And this is the Tendou Dojou! And over here is...Uhh..." "RANMA!" "Yume, Hana, meet Akane, my uncute fiancee." The fiancee in question pulled a mallet out of god-knows-where and smashed it *hard* into Ranma's cranium. "Ranma!" cried Yume and Hana in fear. *No one* could possible take a hit like that and survive! But Ranma bounced back quickly and yelled at Akane, "What'd you go and do *that* for!" "Jeez, Yume, he sound's just like you." Miriam blushed. "Actually, Hana dear, I sound like *him*." Ruth gave her an odd look. "Wannabe." Akane attacked Ranma. He ducked and dodged each hit as if it were no big deal. He flowed like water over stones, but Akane never once touched him. "Fight *back*!" she screamed at him in fury. "How am I ever supposed to get better if you don't *fight back*?!" "I don't fight girls," he said calmly, not even winded. Akane was panting and gasping for breath. "Even tomboy's like you." Thus the return of the dreaded, infamous mallet. This time, Ranma just stayed where he landed, twitching. "Un...cute... tomboy!" Akane turned to the two visitors. "Hi! I'm Akane. Want to be friends?" Authors Notes: Ah, how long I've waited to type that! Anyway...This is actually a fairly accurate telling of how it would be. These are all actual people (that aren't anime characters) and those are actual nicknames. Translations (All Japanese unless specified otherwise) |Gomen| - Sorry |Wo ai ni| - I love you (Chinese) |Kawaii| - Cute |Yume| - Dream |Hana| - Flower |Konnichiwa| - Hello The reason that the girls are called Kawaii Yume and Kawaii Hana is because in Japan, the family name comes first. Cute Dream and Cute Flower! (Ruth is a little POed cuz she thinks I named her after a skunk. Ya know, from Bambi. Heh.) Okay, so should I continue or call it quits before the fanfic police come out and shoot me for such a terrible fic?
