STANDARD DISCLAIMER:
The following is a character file to go along with my fanfic, "Fushigi Yuugi - The Fabulous Adventure", which is a crossover with a ton of CLAMP's stories. I decided to create character files since many people said they liked FY or CLAMP, but didn't necessarily know all of the characters in my fanfiction. Hopefully the character files will allow you a "feel" for the character's background, their possible motives, etc. I believe this will help you in getting a more accurate picture of the fanfiction story as a whole.

My character files are seperated into three parts:

1. The first part contains the original CLAMP version of the character & their background (***WARNING***: There are MAJOR spoilers to the original CLAMP manga in here. If you haven't read the manga that corresponds to the character yet, you are forewarned of the spoilers). This section is concise (to save space & time), and is basically a small synopsis. Many events/aspects are left out, but I think I nailed the most important ones.

2. The second part are my fanfiction character statistics (keeping true _wherever possible_ to the original CLAMP's stats for the character). Age, date of birth, blood type, etc. are all a part of it.

3. The third part is the actual background of the character in my fanfiction before PART 1. I invented the backgrounds, taking large portions of the CLAMP's original concepts and adapting them to fit into my world. Call it creative licensing.

I hope you enjoy these. Let me know what you think. Look for more to follow, as well as part 3 to come soon!

CHARACTER FILE: SOHMA

1. CLAMP BACKGROUND:
In RG Veda, Sohma is the only remaining member of the Sohma Clan. Taishaku-ten had the clan killed because of the legend that says that each member of her Clan can grant one - and only one - person eternal life.
She is one of the Six Stars, and is a ninja-type warrior. Stealth and speed are her gifts, and because of them, she is often a messenger or information gatherer. She carries a twin pair of crescent moon-shaped shiriken, which she uses to fight with.
Kendappa-Oh was instrumental in saving her life once, and because of it Sohma has served her faithfully. When she is mortally wounded (surprisingly by Kendappa-Oh herself), she decides to give her gift of eternal life to Kendappa-Oh, who is on the verge of death herself. Unfortunately, Taishaku-ten prevents this from happening by pulling them away from each other, and both die. Out of respect for their love, Taishaku-ten rests them together, and they lay entwined in each other's arms the last time we see them.

3. FANFICTION BACKGROUND:

Sohma is a Shiseishi of the Byakko Miko. Because of the nature of her powers, she is often put in the position to be the information gatherer or spy for the group. Yasha is admanant about her not being an assassin for them as well, although she has suggested it to him many times.

Born with the name Hima, she was the youngest daughter of nine to a warrior of the Sohma Clan. Being the youngest had its advantages, freedom being the most prized one. Surprisingly, she relished not being the center of attention, and, in fact, enjoyed being overlooked by others around her - too much fuss caused nervous butterflies to appear in her tummy, and aggrevated her hyperactivity, so, she preferred to remain in the background and observe. Later, it became almost a game - trying to remain obscure, and see how long it took a person to notice her.
A surprisingly responsible child, she was given the sole task of running out to the pastures to retrieve the livestock at the end of each day - an important job, but less important than what her sisters and brothers were assigned to do. That was just fine with her. Years of this type of practice had made her incredibly fast by the time she was ten, her ability to cover long distances in short periods of time became almost legendary. Because of this "gift" she was often entrusted as a messenger to the various surrounding Clans.

Hima's status as a Shiseishi was not known about until she was sixteen.

During a festival one night, she participated in a marathon run to the top of the nearest high ridge. While she finished first, she accidentally slipped at the top, and plummeted to the ground, more than two hundred feet below, in front of the crowd of spectators. A brilliant white aura surrounded her suddenly, and she was guided safely to earth by it. It was then that her father discovered her special status, and immediately everyone was in awe of her...
Everyone except the Chieftain's teenaged daughter, Miria, that was.
Having been popular with the boys until that time, Miria's jealousy of her usurped "status as the most desirable" gnawed at her. She ran away, and met up with a troop of soldiers from Hokkan Country. Captured and brought to their Captain, Seishirou. Taken with the man's good looks, and flattered by his attentions, she willingly answered his questions about the girl who was a Byakko Seishi. It wasn't until Seishirou's sword hilt protruded from her chest that Miria understood that her twisted jealousy would lead to the destruction of her people.

Seishirou's men flooded through the Sohma villiage, taking it completely by surprise. Wherever they went, bodies lay strewn, paos blazed on fire, and screams echoed behind. The men searched frantically for Hima, and when they found her, they brought her before Seishirou, her wrists tied and bound. The two traded scathing remarks back and forth, and finally, angered by the girl's arrogance and wanting to prove his power over her, he knocked her out and dragged her into an abandoned pao. There, he raped her, taking her virginity.
Hima awoke to find Seishirou on top of her. She screamed, tried to fight, but he was physically stronger, and held her down easily. Over and over he whispered endearments in her ear, saying horrid and lewd things to frighten her further. For hours he kept up this type of torture. Finally, in the middle of the night, he had exhausted himself, and was ready to finish the "business" that Taishaku-ten had sent him on. Before he could deliver the killing blow, however, a wandering gypsy, who had been staying in the villiage and had escaped the carnage, snuck up behind him and knocked Seishirou out with a heavy object. The slightly-older woman then freed Hima and together with her friend gypsy Gigei, the three escaped into the night.
Hima learned that the woman who had saved her was named Kendappa, and she was an extremely talented musician, able to play just about any instrument. Her friend, Gigei, was a splendid dancer and acrobat, and together, the two of them taught Hima how to perform. Kendappa gave Hima a twin pair of special Crescent Blades, which the older woman said she would use in her performances to "spice them up." Secretly, Kendappa also told her that the blades could be used as a weapon, and trained Hima in the means to do so. In addition, she also changed Hima's name to her Seishi name, Sohma, to protect the girl, and the three travelled together for years, entertaining villiages and troops of soldiers throughout the continent.

For years, Sohma was content to wander and attempt to forget what had happened. She never took a lover or married, and that was just fine with her too. She had retained her freedom, and had seen cultures beyond imagining. However, deep within her heart, a part of her knew that there was some grander scheme for which she was meant.

Eventually, the three ended up at the imperial palace of Sairou Country, upon the request of the Emperor himself, who had heard of three women who often performed for his men's camps at night, and whom he had great respect for because of their morale boosting work. There, Sohma and Prince Ferio met. At first, the young Prince distrusted Sohma, but soon they hit it off when they realized that they both enjoyed working out and training. In a sparring session one afternoon, they accidentally discovered that they were both Byakko Seishi, and from that point on, Sohma vowed to serve the throne of Sairou Country faithfully. Of course, the Emperor was thrilled, and made all three women his honored guests; he even made Kendappa his royal court musician, and Gigei his royal court dancer!
The permanance of a "home" was a long-forgotten feeling for Sohma, and it had taken some adjusting to. To relieve her wander-lust, she often went on trips to the nearby mountains, and occassionally, Prince Ferio would accompany her - for training purposes.
When Yasha arrived a year later, Sohma fell into instant infactuated with the man. Her rekindled interest in the opposite sex surprised Kendappa, thrilled Gigei, and scared her, and even though he was already in love with another woman - the Genbu Miko's protector to boot! - Sohma had decided that she wanted to try for a relationship with him. Although she did not actively pursue him, she did as she had always done - remained in the background, supporting him, watching him, and patiently coming to understand him, waiting for her chance.
Surely, Byakko could not mean for her to be alone her whole life?
