{Teknos Warhammer walks out as the sun rises behind him, making
everything, him included, look gold.}
WH:
You know, I was never good at mushy stuff, but I'll do my best to make
it good. Plus, try looking at the sun rise or sun set. It's really a
breath taking event. The best part is, it happens every day.
Teknos Warhammer presents
Golden Beginnings
A fanfic of Teknoman
based on the manga
Space Knight Tekkaman Blade
Written by Chrisitan Clark
Date: September 4, 2104
Five years. It had been five long years since it all happened. Star
looked down at the wheel chair ridden man that she said she would take
care of. This man, was the man who had saved Earth, but at such a price.
Not one was able to contain as much power as he did, all in order to
stop Darkon. The worse part was, Darkon was his brother and he had to
kill him.
This man, Slade, had used a maneuver used by the creator of the Teknos,
called the Nova Wave, to stop Darkon. The amount of power used in that
attack was enough to destroy a whole planet, but it came at such a price
that there was not much left of the body of the user.
Slade barely survived after he used it against his brother. The doctors
said that he was nothing more than a vegetable and would remain that
way, yet Salian spoke differently. With the teksystem, his body would
regenerate, although slowly.
So, she chose to stay behind, as everyone else, save for the Space
Knight Teknos, went to the new Earth. Where they would train more
warriors and healers and revive the Teknos. The world was in such
turmoil that no one really noticed them fly into space. Carrying
teknomen who had lived on Earth for more than a century. All for the
purpose of protecting the solar system from whatever the danger that was
following Darkon.
The setting sun made everything in sight have a gold look to it. The
place where Slade and she were staying was a small affair. It was a
modest sized home that was placed by the beach and on the other side was
a sea of waving blue-green grass. Star chose this place for Slade. He
always loved the beach, along with the memories that he and his family
shared. There was a patio by the glass sliding door where she could
wheel him on so they both could see the sun set.
On a particular day, she wheeled Slade out to the back patio, the sun
was about to set. All was quiet as it had been for so long, except for
the sounds of nature. After placing him at his favorite spot, she sat
down on a chair next to him. Like Slade, she stared at the sun as
already half of it was behind the horizon.
She turned to him after a minute. He was still staring at the horizon,
with a blank look in his eyes. It seemed like everything had stopped for
him when he went into that coma. After all this time, he had shown no
signs of his recovery. She wondered how long it would be until he would
at the least, show a sign of recovery.
He stared blankly as the last of the sun fell past the horizon and
darkness began to fill the sky above. She took another last look at the
sunset as the light was fading. She stood up and began to wheel him back
into the house. It was time that he went to bed and she was feeling
tired as well, but for a reason she couldn't tell.
His room had a large window where he could see both sunrise and sunset.
It was on the second floor of the small house that was made for them.
There was also a small elevator for her to use so she could bring him to
and from his room.
After pulling down the covers, she picked up Ness and placed him on the
bed as gently as she could. She rolled him onto his side and closed his
eyes by pulling his eyelids down with her pointer finger and thumb. As
she pulled up the covers on his bed, she begun to stare at the now
sleeping form of the only man she seemed to care for. Walking on the
other side of the bed, she knelt down and rested her head on her arms as
she stared more.
What was it about him? Why did she love him? Was it real? So many
questions ran through her head at a rate so fast, she couldn't even
answer them. Instead, she reached up and traced a finger around his
face, down his jaw line, and up to his lips. Pulling back her finger for
a second, she looked at the place where her fingers had landed on his
face. She thought to herself, <I wonder if.......>
She slowly leaned forward, her face coming closer to his. Their faces
were inches, centimeters, millimeters apart before she discovered what
she was doing.
He was basically comatose and would give nothing back to her even if she
did. She pulled away and then realized that more than an hour had passed
while she was just putting him to bed. Walking down to her own room, she
turned back to look at where the doorway of his room was.
Was she really going to kiss him? She mentally slapped herself and
repeated the logic that prevented her from doing so in the first place.
Everything else was turned off, except for the light in her room. She
changed into an oversized shirt and shorts and opened up the covers to
her own bed. After pulling up the covers, she stared out into the night
sky through her window. Her friends were all out there somewhere. Ringo,
Tina, Maggie, Mac, and Cain were all out there on Earth, helping to
make the future of Earth better.
They were waiting for her and him. She wanted to follow them, but also
to stay with Slade more. And she would wait, no matter what. She kept
repeating that same thing until sleep took her into the world of
meaningless dreams.
This time, the dreams were not present, instead, someone else was.
"Greetings Star." Said a voice from nowhere as Star floated in a dark
void.
She looked about, searching frantically for the source of the noise, but
found nothing.
"You have nothing to fear from me." The voice said again. This time,
Star looked ahead to see a figure meld from the darkness in front of
her.
It was a woman, garbed in armor that looked very familiar. Not only
that, the helmet was gone, to reveal the stranger as, "Shara?" Star
exclaimed.
Shara nodded and then looked down, "There was another detail of the
Teknos I forgot as Shannon Carter. That Teknos came from the one who
bestowed their power to them, the Mother. I did not think that it was I
who was the Mother."
Star blinked, "Then, does this mean you're still alive?"
Shara shook her head slowly, "Shannon Carter. The woman that you knew as
Ness' sister, died. Only I, Shara, the Mother of the Teknos remain. Yet,
I still regret being that way. You see, though I only meant to live long
enough to stop Darkon, I also miss Ness and Cain as my brothers. It was
a mistake..."
Star floated slowly to Shara's side and asked, "But... how could that
have been a mistake? I mean, you have two strong men who fight for the
good and the innocent. You should be proud. Everything is coming back to
calm and..." before she could continue, Shara interrupted.
"No! You don't understand! I love them. Being mortal and having a family
with them was the greatest thing that ever happened to me and now it's
gone. It hurts to watch them doing good and I not be there with them."
She replied with tears in her eyes. She turned and was about to float
away and leave her alone when Star grabbed her shoulder.
Shara looked around to see Star's sympathetic face. She said, "I'm sure
that they still love you too. They feel the same pain you do, but don't
let it get to you that much. You can still watch them continue to do
good, after all, wasn't it you who helped save humanity in the first
place?" Slowly, Shara nodded. "They owe much more to you than you
think. I owe you much. Humanity does as well. Besides, how would your
brothers think if they knew you were sad? It would hurt them too. Ness
thought the world of you... he told me how much he wished he could see
you again when he first came."
Though the tears still came, the emotion switched from sadness to joy as
Shara reached forward and embraced Star. "Thank you..." she whispered.
"And I almost forgot the reason why I came here."
Pulling back, Star looked at Shara with confusion. "What do you mean?"
Before the goddess said anything, her form began to brighten and soon
enough the light blinded Star to the point where she had to close her
eyes. When the light started to vanish, she could begin to make out
Shara's form, although altered in a few ways. She seemed to be wearing a
much more leaner version of her armor and had orange robes with
futuristic designs on them all. Also, several multicolored wires seemed
to weave through various parts of her body.
She then looked down to see her jagged and nightmarish armor of Teknoman
Star begin to fall off her person. Though the armor fell off, what
remained instead of skin was light. She looked up to ask Shara what it
meant and before the words left her mouth, Shara answered.
"This form which you see now, was the one the Lahdam created. A version
meant to kill and destroy. My warriors and healers were meant to
protect, which is why I am going to give you a brand new designation and
armor." Shara said ethereally, her voice coming from everywhere and
nowhere. "Now... kneel and receive that which is yours."
Although not understanding, Star knelt on the platform that she and
Shara were on. They appeared to be floating in space, in front of a
birthing system as well. She decided to wait until Shara was done with
her gift to ask questions.
"Star... woman of Earth... as a Teknos, your power will base from the
flame of courage that resides in your heart and soul. Like the one you
pledged your heart to, your designation shall be that of the Spear. To
assist you, the Tiger shall be your guide in the times where no one else
can help.
"As Teknos, you will continue to protect the innocent and good from
harm. Yet, more importantly, you shall protect those you love with all
your might until the day comes you cease to breathe.
"Someday, shall take the name of Verous, the master of Flame. Though
your new body shall not be as strong as others in flight and your armor
will appear weak, that shall be the undoing of those foolish enough to
strike with the power and armor that I grant you. Now rise Teknos Star."
As her new armor began to form around her, Star looked up worried. Sword
had called her the Morning Star. A brute force weapon which she nearly
used to kill Slade a long while ago. She looked up to see Shara place
her hand on her shoulder.
"You have nothing to fear of your past. Your name is derived of the
Shooting Star, not the other as you were previously called." She said
with a small smile.
Star smiled back and nodded as the last of her armor fell into place.
She looked about herself and saw red. Red armor that is. Though a bit
leaner than Slade's, it would provide more than adequate protection.
Also, she reached around and felt a mane of silken hair reach down to
her wait. Upon her torso, there seemed to have been a vest of sorts,
which split from the bottom of the collarbone and reached all the way
down to her calves.
"Star..." she looked up to see Shara begin walking away. "Watch over my
brother please. And tell him... tell him that I am at peace." Star
nodded as the goddess' form began to glow white once more. The blinding
light was the last thing she saw as the goddess returned Star to
slumber.
*************************************************
In Ness' room, several shadows crept through the night and by his
bedside. The shadow numbered nine in total. Finally, the last shadow
solidified and its form soon condensed into the true form of the Mother,
Shara.
She reached forward and stroked a few hairs away from his face as the
other shadows look on with confusion.
[This one... what does he mean to you? He is merely one of many.] one
shadow whispered.
[Agreed, compared to us and you, he is nothing.] another said.
Shara did not bother to turn as she whispered back in their own tongue,
[the very same as every one of you did before you reached your present
level. He means much more to me than everything else that I hold.]
[Hmph. A goddess taken down by a mere mortal with sibling affection.]
another voice snorted.
Shara smirked and turned to that shadow, [Keep in mind that you were
once the same way as well. You were never part of something that I will
never forget, so I hold him with higher regard. Not only because he was
my brother, but because of a sacrifice so great for so few.]
[Your feelings do you credit Mother. And I too can understand, yet, the
sun is soon to rise. We must make haste.] One of the larger shadows
whispered.
Shara nodded and knelt by the bed, putting her hands upon his head and
smiling at her brother.
"Teknoman Slade... renegade of the Lahdam. First Savior of Earth. I,
the Mother, now remove the designation of traitor of the Lahdam and
place upon you, the designation of Guardian of Earth. With the help of
the Phoenix, your Lance shall guide many more Teknos to truth. With the
power of Metal, all its power will one day be at your command to defend.
"No more shall you go by Slade... but your true namesake. The Blade. The
blade that protects the innocent, that blade that sings of truth in
battle, and the blade who delivers justice and compassion to friend and
foe alike. And someday... you shall take the name of the first Leader of
the Teknos, Neigas.
"Now... Teknos Blade. From your sleep, I command that you awaken and
defend once more." She whispered. At that point, she began to float into
the air and the witnesses that were with her, vanished. She floated
upwards and as if she had no substance, she passed through the window
above his bed. "I love you, Ness." She whispered.
Ness' eyes blinked several times as he saw what looked like Shara float
above him. Yet, she seemed different. Instead of the Teknoman that he
had seen, she was an angel, smiling down at him from heaven. And he
heard her whisper those same words that meant so much to him. Barely
seeing her form in the sky, he whispered back,
"I love you too, Shannon." Though he wanted to go out and explore how
everything had changed, he was still tired and he returned to sleep once
more. Yet, this sleep was the sleep from which he would awaken from.
*************************************************
The sunrise and the sunset both have unusual powers. They seem to change
everything in sight into a shine-less gold. Every moment of these times
must be carefully observed in order to see the true beauty of the
beginning and end of the day.
Star opened her eyes barely to see all the covers of her white sheets
illuminate with the light of the dawn. She closed her eyes again and
sleep once more took her from reality. What she didn't hear was that her
door opened so slowly that she never heard the creaks from the old wood.
A pair of footsteps made their way to her bed as she slept among the
messed blankets and covers.
She turned over, her backside up, and tried to get more comfortable in
her bed as the newcomer walked closer. The stranger stopped and then
started to walk to the side where its shadow wouldn't show itself to
her.
Once on the other side, the stranger knelt down at the side of the bed
and stared at the woman on it. After a short while, the stranger leaned
over her, took a small breath, and blew on her neck. The gentle touch of
the stranger's breath made everything come to life in Star's body. She
bolted upright and rolled off the bed with a loud *THUMP*. The stranger
began to laugh with a definitely male voice.
Star was ready to kill. Since she had changed, the prospect of killing
didn't seem as harsh as it did before it happened. No one ever disrupted
her sleep like that. She heard the laughter and she frowned more so, she
was about to pull out her crystal when she knelt up to see who it was.
There, kneeling on the other side of the bed, was Slade. Laughing his
head off.
Even though she was glad to see him back, she wanted to walk over there
and rip his face off. Then, she fully realized what was going on. Ness
was back completely. He tried to stop giggling as he stood up. "You
should have seen the look on your face," he struggled to keep the
laughter down, but failed, "It was priceless!" The laughter continued, a
bit to Star's annoyance.
Her expression softened and she walked over to him. She looked up at him
and then realized that she couldn't stand it anymore. She wrapped her
arms around him and wanted to cry, but the tears wouldn't come. She was
too happy to cry. What made her heart soar was that he slowly wrapped
his arms around her body and drew her close. She rested her head on his
shoulder and looked up to him. He looked more calm, more alive, and
looked like as if a heavy weight was taken off of him.
She stammered "Ness...is it you? Is it really you?"
He nodded and replied, " And I know everything. Even about yesterday,"
he ended with a wink.
Her eyes widened. Maybe just because his body was comatose didn't mean
that his mind wasn't. So he had known almost everything that she had
done for him. Being close to him when he was alive opened something to
their minds. Like an open channel between two lakes, now everything
seemed so much more...complete. Both knew what the other knew about what
had happened, what would have happened, and what they wanted.
Almost is if it were done countless times before, they moved their faces
closer together. As their lips met, all the lost times before, all the
opportunities missed, all the times interrupted, were all made up with
this single kiss. Fueled by the feelings that both were more than
willing to give, neither one wanted to let it stop. From anywhere else
in the room, they would have appeared as a single black pillar. All
detail lost within the shadows of the two figures.
When it ended, they both walked to the patio where they sat, watching
the sun rise. Everything had the color of gold. For that time and the
times that followed, everything seemed so right. Watching the day begin
and end became a regular event they shared and like the sunrise, they
would begin something as well. But for this event alone, it seemed there
would be no end.
The End.
{WH returns a bit happier than usual.}
WH:
I found that I still hold this fanfic dear to me. I don't know why, but
it's just that feeling that you're glad you wrote this. I'm a
romanticist, what can I say? Even after I completed this fanfic a month
after I finished Shara's Last Gift. Odd eh?
Wanna know who those shadows are? Well, I'll explain in a future
fanfic. So yer gonna have to wait! Bwa, ha, and ha.
On another note: Star does have her own tekkaman form in Tekkaman Blade
II. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyplace that has a pic of her in her
tekkaman form. Plus, Ness does look the same, but his name is now
something much better than just Slade. Well... in my opinion anyway.
I also discovered that this has some similarities to the relationship
between Keiko Yukimura and Yusuke Uremeshi in the wonderful series, Yu
Yu Hakusho/Poltergeist Report. I never meant them to be there, it's just
that in the original series of Tekkaman, Blade indeed becomes a living
vegetable after utterly destroying Tekkaman Omega/Darkon. It's 10 years
after the end of the first series that the second series starts. Which
is when Yumi takes over as main character, much to my chagrin. Slade/Mr.
D is way better than Yumi will ever be.
The reason for this fic is to answer the question of what happened to
Slade and Star and to write a romantic short fic. If I succeeded ,
please let me know. If I didn't, let me know anyway. Don't leave me in
the dark. Send everything I need to know at Teknoplus@hotmail.com
