In my dreams, we are more than friends.
We talk, we share, we laugh.

In the mall, at the park, walking to school.
I am happy holding hands, for we are more than friends.

When I awake, we are no longer friends.
We argue, we yell, we fight.

Why do we fight? Why do I push you away?
I am afraid to be more than friends.

If I care for you, will you promise not to leave?
If I give my love to you, will you promise not to die?

You can't, I know, so I force you away.

If I do not care, I will not hurt.
If I do not love, I will not cry.

More than friends, I want to be.
But the thought of losing you, is too scary for me.
