Well, this might be becouse of the fact that in Star Trek most of the
main cast is male, while in anime we have lots of extremely beautiful,
young females. The most popular anime series among fanfic writers seem
to be Ranma 1/2 (lots of girls there), Sailor Moon (even more girls) and
Evangelion (again, several girls).

I wrote an SI fic in the Ranmaverse.  It was my first fic.
