Here's the next one. I think its a bit shorter than my others. But there
isn't really anything for me to add about Akane. I just wrote this one
because I don't think the series would be complete without something on
Akane. Anyway, C&C welcome from everyone but otoo-san! Otoo-san, e-mail me
one more time and I'll teach you a thing or two about flames!! Ehh...Gomen,
minna. On with the show!

*****Ranma Romance*****
*The Secret of Akane's Heart*

"Oooh, Kunou just pisses me off so bad sometimes!" I yelled.
Kunou had been his usual self that morning and was hitting on
me and trying to just simply *hit* Ranma.
Nabiki walked casually down the stairs. "It's not that big
of a deal, Akane," she said. I looked up at her from the TV.
We were watching some old samurai movie.
"Maybe it wouldn't be to you, Nabiki, but it is to me." He
wasn't trying to flirt with *you.* He wasn't trying to maim,
maybe even kill, your fiancee.
I sighed. Ranma looked at me. "Tired?" he said.
   I wasn't. "Yeah," I said. I wished I could tell him how I
really feel about him. I don't know why I feel I can't. Ranma
shrugged and then turned back to the TV.
The movie ended shortly afterward, and I went to sleep. I
guess I wasn't really lying when I said I was tired.

I woke up with the sun. I'm a fairly light sleeper most of
the time, so the slightest bit of light wakes me right up.
I yawn as I walk down the stairs. I don't bother changing
out of my pajamas, as it is a Saturday. Besides, I can smell
breakfast and I realize how hungry I am.
Not as hungry as Ranma, apparently. He was greedily
shoveling his breakfast into his mouth. I wish he would eat
my cooking like that.
Ranma looked up as I entered the dining room. Then he went
back to eating. Kasumi served me my breakfast. "Ohayou. Did
you sleep well?" she asked.
I smiled up at her. "Hai, onee-chan.
I heard a tired bwee from behind me. I turned to see my
little P-chan crawling in from the backyard. "Oh! P-chan!"
I exclaimed, picking the cursed Ryouga up. Damn, I loved
making Ranma jealous like this. Did he honestly think I that
I didn't know?
Ranma gave an angry 'Hmph!' and left the room without even
finishing his breakfast. "Gee, what's his problem, P-chan?" I
said cutely. "Getting jealous over a cute little pig now?"
Teasing Ranma with P-chan was fun. It was the high point
in my otherwise dreary weekends.

That afternoon, I went out grocery shopping with Ranma. I
pretended to be angry that Ranma was coming along. But, I was
glad. That means I didn't have to carry the bags.
"Akane," said Ranma, voice muffled from behind the armload
he was already carrying. "Could you please hurry up? You
don't have to search the pile for an hour to get the best
lettuce!"
I snickered quietly. I had already set aside the best head
of lettuce. "Oh, fine Ranma," I said and plopped it roughly
on top of the pile. He wobbled a bit, but he didn't drop
anything. I'm sure that if I was looking at him, I would see
him glaring. I smiled, my back to him.
I wonder if this is what it will be like when I marry him.
I know we fight and always deny our engagement, but it just
wouldn't feel right marrying someone else. And I practically
scream at the thought of him marrying anyone else. I guess
that means I love him. But that's my heart's little secret.

I washed the lettuce and boiled the water for dinner. Kasumi
was happy that I was trying to help. "If you start out with
simple things, it will be easier," she said. I was finally
becoming good at washing things and boiling water.
I was in a good mood as Kasumi and I served dinner. I felt
in a way that this was just as much my cooking as Kasumi's,
even though she did much more work.
I watched Ranma eat. It's nice to see him eat something I
at least sort of cooked. "This is good, Kasumi," Ranma said
around a mouthful. I mentally growled. "Good lettuce,
Akane." I beamed silently, then blushed when Ranma noticed.
He wisely didn't comment. I saw there was some colour in
his cheeks, too.

We all stayed up late watching a movie. Well, some of us were
watching the movie. I was watching Ranma. I had placed a
mirror on top of the TV, so I was staring avidly at the mirror
rather than the television screen.
I noticed Ranma seemed to be doing the same thing. Our
eyes met, and we both looked away, blushing. Good thing the
lights were down low. Nabiki looked in our direction and
raised an eyebrow. A slight smile played on her lips.

I guess shortly afterward I feel asleep. The few glimpses of
the movie I actually caught were boring. When I woke up, it
was because my pillow was moving. It picked me up and carried
me gentally to my room.
I opened my eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the dim
light. I looked up into Ranma's eyes. I smiled faintly, too
tired to do anything more. He smiled back. I feel back
asleep.

*the end*

Authors Notes:
I'm sorry if you were disappointed with this one. I kept it
short because I didn't feel I had much, if anything, to add to
Akane's feelings for Ranma. Not that there is much to add on
most of the characters; everybody has done that already. But
anyway, C&C is appreciated and *needed.* =)
