|Wonderful, wonderful idea. Everyone suddenly come to their senses, and
|all those problems resolve themselves. The only difficulty is...what is
|pure reason?

Umm... read Socratic dialogues. Pure reason will play the part of Socrates,
most of the time.

|For example, one might draw from the most common pairings in fanfiction,
|namely Ranma/Akane, Shampoo/Mousse, Ryoga/Akari, Ukyou/little yellow
|pills.

Okay, that last one is cruel. I've seen Ukyo/Ryoga, Ukyo/Konatsu (at least
hinted at), Ukyo/some outside character (Lawson's epliogues to "Thy Inward
Love").

|However, I can rationalize a Ranma/Shampoo, Mousse/Ukyou, Ryoga/Akane set
|quite well.

Well, naturally. I mean, if it COULDN'T possibly happen, what would create
dramatic tension? Or something like that.

|This partially stems from arguments and characterizations
|found on Wade Tritschler's homepage(I agree with the majority of his
|views). There are many fics with Ryoga/Ukyou pairings.

Read them. No left field, those.

|Heck, someone's
|been writing a Ranma/Tenchi fic! Each story has the justifications of the
|matchups explained.

Well, naturally.

|So, which of these does true voice of reason promote?

Slight problem. Love doesn't exactly make sense, does it? In the purely
logical sense of the word, that is. Reason isn't going to so much forge
relationships as it is going to foster existing ones. It won't force anyone
to love/marry/leave desolate and alone anyone else. You'll notice... it only
told Mousse that IF he wanted to comfort Shampoo, he was going about it all
wrong. Reason doesn't override will by any stretch of the imagination. At
least it doesn't like to. So it won't force people on each other... it'll
just suggest that there are better ways to go about expressing whatever
feelings may or may not exist. It'll try and talk Ranma through the
three-fiances-and-one-crazy-with-a-fixation problem by forcing him to make
clear what he thinks about them all. And that may take a while.

Oh... and it really can't cure Ranma of his fear of cats or make the Kunos
sane again. Doing that requires a large-scale manipulation of memories and
such and that takes a whole lot of time and precautions.

Speaking of the Kunos...

{I shall date them both!}

{* Somehow, I don't think they'd jump at the opportunity. *}

{Their true love shines force through the facade the sorcerer Saotome forces
on them! I shall free them from his evil enchantments!}

{* They beat you up every chance they get. *}

{Alas, the poor maidens. With their hearts twisted by vile sorcery, this is
the only avenue open to them to express their true feelings.}

{* They grind you into the dirt because they love you? *}

{Yes. Of that I am certain.}

{* But doesn't Ranma also grind you into the dirt every chance HE gets? *}

{Yes...}

{* So what does that tell you? *}

{Ah! I perceive the connection. Saotome...}

{* Go on... *}

{Is not only a sorcerer but has a mind filled with unhealthy perversions! I
must redouble my efforts to free my huntress and my pigtailed goddess!}

{* <mindfault> I'm in hell... *)
