couple: the pregnant woman and a helper called a "coach".  This is ideally
the husband/father of the baby, but almost anyone will do in a pinch.
Although the woman is advised to pick someone she won't mind being present
when she gives birth.  Unless Ranma was much more of a jerk than usual, he
was Akane's Lamaze coach.  Perhaps he thought he knew enough about it to
skip the classes?

Something like that. The way I figure it, he went to the classes when
she was pregnant, and was about attentive enough to be able to do what
he was supposed to. When he got pregnant, he decided that since he had
seen the techniques, he'd naturally be able to do them, and that labor
wouldn't be that tough anyway.

I'll put in some kind of explanation of this when I get to rewriting
this chapter.
