Something disturbs me about this fic, Gary.
I wouldn't dream of discouraging a "Ranma-gets-pregnant" story. <cough>
But I have to ask... why?
What purpose does it serve?
I'm not really sure what to tell you.
Why did I write this? I wanted to do a Ranma is Pregnant story that went
all the way through the nine months and showed his reactions.
Particularly, I wanted to see how married Ranma and Akane would deal
with the strain of Ranma being pregnant.
Why did I do it this way? Partly because (at the time I thought of it)
it hadn't been done before. Partly because, well, I couldn't think of a
way that was less objectionable. I could've done what I did in "Lost,"
but I doubt you'd have liked that any better, and it would've been the
wrong tone for this series. The only "non-gross" way I can think of to
get Ranma pregnant would have been to turn Akane into a man for a night.
That would've been a tad hard to justify, and besides, Akane is smart
enough to use contraception.
It seems a bit... gross to me, the way it actually happens.
*Shrug* I guess "gross" doesn't bother me as much as it does you.
Will this serve some future purpose in the main story?
It will certainly be very important in the life of Saotome Ririko. How
much I'll be able to get into this in HaM itself is uncertain, since
she's just a toddler for it. It might have to be side story or sequel
material.
It kind of turned me off for some reason, since I could see no purpose to
it. Also, it raised a bunch of questions and then dropped them
unceremoniously, with no real answers.
Which questions do you think went unanswered? Tell me some specifics and
I'll see what I can do.
But the *good* news is that we finally got the preliminaries out of the
way. :) It only took you... what, a year? ^_^
Nine months, of course!
Too bad Taleswapper
gave up reviewing in that time, neh?
Well, he only ever commented on one thing that I did -- but I can
understand why. There's an enormous amount of stuff being written.
This has the makings or a great
epic.
We can only hope! Sorry this chapter didn't grab you, and thanks for the
encouragement on the series.
