This has popped up in a couple of fics by various writers....

Now, maybe this is a result of only having seen the dubbed version of 
the episode, but I got a slightly different view of that scene....

namely, Rei stated that she disliked eating meat, but *never* said 
that she wouldn't eat meat - just that it wasn't something she 
enjoyed.

If faced with no other option, I think she would eat meat. But if she 
were given another choice, she would take it. At least, that's my 
take on it.
