An idea I will not use. I don't dislike the girls in Ranma enough to do
it.

Start of the series.

Soun has told his daugthers about Ranma coming.

A knock on the door.
Soun and Nabiki go to the door, then run back.

A Panda, just a panda, is following them.

"Daddy, this is your friend?" Kasumi asks.

Soun shakes his head "no."

"Oh. So this panda just decided to visit! Happens all the time!" Nabiki
says.

The panda pulls out a sign. "Hot water, please."

The transformation occurs.

"My Friend!" Soun shouts and hugs Genma. "Where's your son?"

Genma looks depressed. He pulls out a vase. "My son drowned, while
training."

"So that engagement thing is off?" Akane asks.

"Has to be, he's dead." Kasumi replies.

"Our dream... Our dream, Genma." Sound starts to cry. Genma starts
crying with him.

The three tendo girls start to comfort the two crying men.

Soun stops crying suddenly, he has an idea. "Genma, whatever happened to
your wife? You never mentioned her in any of the letters you sent. Is
she dead?"

"My wife?" Genma stops crying and looks at his friend strangely.

"If she's dead, then you can marry one of my daugthers and our dream can
still live!" Soun beams at Genma.

'Nodoka. When she finds out about Ranma, I dead anyway, so I'll never
see her again.' He looks at the three beautiful young ladies around him.
'It would be a way to start over. I do need an heir and Nodoka would be
to old anyway.' 

"My wife? No, she is alive. But I divorced her soon after we married.
She did not like the lifestyle of a martial artist."

"Good! Our dream still lives!" Soun puts his arm around his friend and
points to his girls. "Pick the one you want. She's you fiancee. "

"WHAT THE!!!" Kasumi, Nabiki, and Akane yell.

End of scene.

btw: Up until modern times it was common(? I think) in Japan for men in
their late 30's early 40's to marry young women in their late teens,
early 20's.

About the other fiancees:

Kodachi would still attack the gym team. Akane would still be chosen to
take their place. The fight between Akane/Kodachi would be larger and
attract the attention of Genma. He can knock out/save Kodachi.

Shampoo: in vol 27 Genma takes out Ranma with a special move. This is
after Ranma has learned all of his most used moves. Defeating Shampoo
should be possible. 

Ukyo: Well, with Ranma dead, I believe the only way to prevent Ukyo from
demanding his head, would be to have Genma take Ranma's place in the
engagement.

Nodoka: Without Ranma to kept him from running away...

I am not going to do anything with this.
