I felt it to be a good time to give a little info on what's going on
with some of my fics, most notably the more recent endeavors...

Onna: Red Side 

Chapter 23 of O:RS is about 50 percent complete, and will be the last
chapter set in Cephiro for a while. Beginning in chapter 24, we go
back to the Magic Knights as they complete their preparations, fight
more battles with the Chevuro Demons, and eventually make way to
China. Their departure for China will mark the end of Act Four of
Onna: Red Side. Act Five, China, will cover their journey to Mt.
Phoenix, and recovery of the second Fire Mashin. For those who have
complained that Act Four has been devoid of action...act five will be
for you. The entire act will be almost nonstop action. We're close,
folks...chapter 25 or 26 will begin Act Five. 

Sakusen

There have been a lot of questions about Sakusen...so here are some
answers and other general info.

First, for those who have not managed to figure it out by now, the
major non-anime element of Sakusen is Final Fantasy Tactics. The
entire reason Sakusen came into existence is that for the last couple
of weeks, I've been dividing the majority of my time between working
on fics and playing Tactics. When I was doing one, I often thought
about the other. Eventually, I took the logical step of combining the
two, and created the world and back history of Sakusen. 

One understandable question is: why are the Saiyans so weak? There's
a good reason for that. 
While I have become, with good reason, bored with a certain
long-running Dragonball fic, that shall remain nameless (but which I
like to call Saiyajin: As The Dragonball Turns), I've taken some
concepts from that fic which I somehow doubt are part of the actual
Dragonball universe, but should be. For instance, the idea behind the
evolution of the Saiyan race: with each new generation, the Saiyans
become stronger. Son is stronger than father is stronger than
grandfather. By that logic, Sakusen is placed at a point in time
where the Saiyans were not yet very strong. In Dragonball terms,
around power level 200-350, with King Vegeta being around power level
500. 

Another question I've been faced with repeatedly: what's the deal
with Ranma using claws? This is quite simple. In many FF games (and I
acknowledge that this does *not* hold true in Tactics), martial
artists use claw weapons. This also somewhat explains Ranma's leather
armor. 

One other question that's popped up is why Ranma says that Gokou's
father is a Saiyan, but makes no mention of his mother. This is an
idea going back to the fact that with the exception of Bura and Pan,
we never *see* female Saiyans in DBZ, not even in flashbacks, etc.
When we see images of the Saiyan incubation nurseries, we never see a
female Saiyan anywhere. Considering the warrior caste of the Saiyan
race, I think it's safe to assume that pre-technology Saiyans would
keep the women in holding pens, as "breeding stock", and the Saiyans
don't bother to keep track of who the mother of a child is, just who
the father is. 

One last thing: Sakusen is a medieval world, where male dominance
holds true (yes, it sucks, I know, but bear with it, because the
ladies get to kick a lot of ass too), which is also why Hotohori's
adopted daughter doesn't simply assume the throne of Sakusen. She
can't, because women are not allowed to rule in this world.

As for the spamfic I posted last night, I am going to continue it,
but right now I have an incredibly *sick* idea for the next chapter,
and it may get a little out of control. So you're warned.

Spirit Zero: I may continue work on this after I get a significant
bit of Sakusen done.

Faux Existence Update: NFTZu "Radler" showed me the draft of the next
part of Faux Existence the other day. It's looking pretty good. I
suspect that the FFML will see it within a week or two. (Hint, hint).


My other fics: I'm working on the above group of stuff primarily now,
and will pick up on the others later. 

Well, that's enough outta me for now. I should have O:RS chapter 23
ready by tomorrow, and the next part of Sakusen by Thursday evening.
