My, it certainly does make it easier to pair up Ranma with someone else
when Akane is depicted as a total maniac.

It does indeed; it's a time-honored approach to a difficult problem.
Though if I were going to write such a story, I think I'd go for the
more believable approach of killing Akane off in the beginning.



But Akane usually *does* jump to the wrong conclusions.  However,
I think she waits until Ranma actually puts his foot in his mouth.
It might help the scene a bit if Akane actually asks Ranma where
he's been.  Ranma can make his standard lame excuse, insult
Akane in the process, and *then* she can throw him out of the 
building.  ^_^
