The man and his son trudged wearily through the rain soaked mud, their
clothes and bodies caked with it. Their journey into the mountains had lasted
for days and they were both about ready to expire, when the man came to an
abrupt stop.
Hey pop, why are we stopping now? the boy said with an exasperated air, his
father had drug him out on this training mission without reason and so far
they had just been slogging through the mud. His father turned to him with an
unreadable look on his face.
We have arrived. was all the man said. Then he turned and entered the
large clearing to his right. The boy followed with a shrug. The clearing was
dark, the trees that surrounded it on all sides were tall and thick. Here and
there a small beam of light pushed its may through the canopy to be
extinguished before it could reach the forest floor. In the center of the
clearing there was a small dojo, an odd sight in the natural surroundings.
There was no civilization around for miles and yet here in the middle of this
massive forest it was. The boy was positive it was deserted, the hideaway of
some eccentric hermit who had long since left it to rot. The boy wandered
around into the middle of the clearing, right in front of the dojos entrance.
He looked around unimpressed.
So this is what you drug me out here to see, eh pop? he turned to see his
father lingering at the entrance to the clearing, almost as if he feared to
enter. His face was a swirl of emotions. When he spoke, his voice was slow
and labored.
My son, I have trained you to the best of my abilities. I have no more to
teach you, the man paused for a moment, he was holding back tears, Today you
shall meet your new master, and you shall treat him with the respect he
deserves. Follow his word and his way.
What are you talking about pop? the boy asked confused and outraged, your
just leaving me here in the woods with some wacko martial arts master?
Be silent my son, it is for the best. and with that the man vanished into
the woods, before the boy could even register that he had left.
You lousy old man! the boy yelled in rage, your really going to do it?
Just leave me here? Well damn you old man!! Damn yo...
Silence!! the voice boomed throughout the small clearing. The boy fell to
his knees in surprise, he looked to see where had come from but around him was
nothing but deep black forest. The little dojo just sat there uselessly.
Finally when the boy began to wonder if he had even heard the voice at all the
door of the small dojo creaked open. The light that poured out blinded the
boy and he could not discern the figure that approached him. Then the voice
spoke again, this time not as impressive as the first time.
Stand up mboy, dont wallow around like fool. Today you shall begin your
true training in Anything Goes Martial Arts. Your father before you was a
poor student, but he promised me an heir to the school in his son. I trust
you will live up to his promises. Now come forward into the dojo, and fear
not young Genma I shall treat you as my own son.
Coming Soon: The Legacy of the Fathers
Anybody done this before? I would really appreciate some C&C and any ideas.
I plan on making this as an explanation of why Genma and Soun are so scared of
Happosai, I might make it fairly dark. Thanks!
