The Chief glanced one last time over the briefing document
held loosely in his hooves. Gently, exasperatedly, he let it go,
watching it flutter to his desk.
Sighing, he tapped the button to switch on his intercom.
"Penny, Send in agent triple zero."
"Already on it, Chief." The intercom broke apart, revealing a
hole in the desk underneath it. Out of it stood a medium height
squirrel wearing a trenchcoat and a wide brimmed fedora. "Secret
Squirrel reporting!"
A mole wearing a sweater, sunglasses and a fez popped up in
front of the desk. "And Morocco Mole, too," he offered in an
accented voice.
"Bully." The Chief tapped his pipe out in the ashtray next to
the squirrel sticking out of his desk, and filled it with fresh
tobacco from a pouch in his vest. "I'm pulling you two off the
Gorilla ring."
The squirrel's expression became slightly troubled. "We're
just about to crack the case Chief! What's the big deal?"
The chief held out a manila folder. "Horrid thing, really. It
seems that a squad of killer bio-androids from a parallel universe
destroyed a small town in Japan last night."
"Ohhh!" Morocco's hands went to his mouth in horror. "That
*is* bad!"
"So why us?" The squirrel asked. "Isn't this a case for the
JSDF?"
"Usually it would be," the Chief explained. "But these
monsters are like nothing they've ever encountered. To tell the
truth, nobody on the globe has seen anything like them."
"And you want me to do something about it."
"Precisely."
The squirrel scratched his chin. "That's going to be fairly
difficult Chief. So far as I know, we don't have a working
dimensional bridge, do we?"
"We do have a contingency." The Chief stood, lifting his
enormous bulk from behind his desk. "If you will," he motioned to
the squirrel and mole, gesturing that they should follow him.
They proceeded through the halls of the agency, down an
elevator, and through a long, featureless corridor.
"Apparently," the Chief explained, "The corporation that
manufactures these aberrations is fairly infamous in its own
dimension. They're responsible for tens of thousands of deaths and
trillions in property damage. Once they created the device they use
to cross the dimensional barrier, they sent the androids to our
universe for testing purposes."
Secret Squirrel's left eye raised slightly in disgust. "How
incredibly evil..."
"It seems," the chief continued, "that local police managed
to infiltrate the corporation and appropriate one of the
dimensional devices. They tracked the androids to our universe, and
have offered their help in destroying the things."
At the end of the corridor, the Chief opened a door and led
the squirrel and mole into a lavishly furnished waiting room.
Waiting inside were three... people. They appeared to be vaguely
simian, although quite a bit taller and much less hairy. Two were
male, and had dark hair. One wore an earring, while the other had
slicked back hair and dark, almost mirrored sunglasses. The other,
a female, had curly bright red hair."
"Secret Squirrel, Morocco Mole," the Chief introduced. "This
is Leon McNichol,"
"Yo."
"Daley Wong,"
The man with the earring winked and waved hello.
"and Nene Romanova from the MegaTokyo ADPolice force."
The woman bowed slightly with a warm smile.
"They're the best experts on these 'Boomers' that the
ADPolice could spare."
The squirrel offered his hand in turn to Leon, Daley, and
Nene. "It will be nice working with you."
"Nice isn't the word," Leon warned. "I've seen what Genom can
do to a place, and I'd like to keep that from happening here."
The chief cleared his throat. "I'm counting on you to end the
boomer activity and ensure that Genom Corporation won't be able to
send any more."
"Understood, Chief. Let's get to work."

Squirrel Chase:
Secret Squirrel and the Knight Sabers
Is anyone interested in this one? I'll admit it's pretty far out there
for a crossover idea. Usually one does not associate 'Hanna-Barbara'
and quality fiction in the same idea. I've always had a special spot
in my heart for Secret Squirrel, though. I watched it when ever I could
when I was little, and when Cartoon Network started showing new cartoons
along with their 'Two Stupid Dogs' show, it started me thinking.
Mostly, it started me thinking about how much I would rather they'd
drop the 'Two Stupid Dogs' and just have more 'Secret Squirrel'.
A few weeks ago, I rewatched all the BGC OAV's and the two ideas
seemed to meld. The idea of Secret fighting a Boomer with all his
special cartoon gadgets really appeals to me.
No, I don't really have anywhere to go with this. I really doubt I
could be writing on it even if I wanted to anyway since I already have
far too many pots on the boil.
If anyone wants to run with this, feel free!
For those who are interested, it looks like the third part of 'Chaos and
Destiny' will be posted to the FFML in just a few days.
