Speaking as the one who started the 'Quest for Ideas' thread, I found it
_very_ useful as a way of getting more ideas for subplots for my fic. I
could be wrong, but I thought the basic purpose of the FFML is to help
us write good stories.
The last three days I count 5 messages on it that were echoed to the
mailing list. (I may have deleted others) Admittedly by then it had
degenerated into comparisons between Mihoshi and Ifurita (TV) but the
thing is dying on it's own now.
It served it's purpose, and the resultant story will be the better for
it.
