I seriously doubt she could destroy Dark One on her own. ^_^

If that's so, then how's Rand going to do it? No offense to Al'Thor fans
(I like the guy myself), but it seems to me that Lina could mop the floor
with half the Tower with the kind of powers at her disposal. Sure, Rand
has an army of Aiel at his back, but unless they can channel, I doubt they
will be of any real use at the final battle, except to distract the Dark
One's minions.

Manetheren's queen, Eldrene, wiped out a batch of Dreadlords from many
miles away and totally destroyed the city and she was as strong as Rand.
Rand is still learning and still increasing in power, but remember not only
what he did at at Tarwin's Gap, but that Lews Therin Telamon burned a hole
through the crust when he commited suicide and formed Dragonmount. And
that was without angreals. By the time of the Last Battle, I don't think
that there will be very many Forsaken left, so Rand's channelers will
mostly face Dreadlords.

I meant "not as strong as Rand." Oops.

Rand -IS- pretty strong. But Lina seems to be able to level mountains on
a regular basis through raw power(Okay! I admit that they were small
mountains...), while I get the feeling that Rand & co. would be hard
pressed to do similar feats. Yes, Lewis Therin the Kinslayer formed
Dragonmount without angreals, but that's because he overloaded himself on
Power, and blew up. This does not count as a viable battle tactic.
(C'mon Dark One, gimme a hug! *BOOM*)

As for the Forsaken, they seem to be getting picked off at a constant rate
of one per book, so I can't disagree with your assessment of the final
battle. My comment about the usefulness of the Aiel stems from my feeling
that they would be just as useful against the Dark One in a direct
confrontation as Rodimus was against Shabranigdo (i.e not at all). I
don't see someone as powerful as the Dark One worrying about wheather a
sword is going to hit him, or not.

The answer to this one is simple. He's _NOT_ going to destroy the Dark
One. He _CAN'T_. If Rand _did_ destroy the Dark One that would stop
the Wheel from turning as effectively as the Dark One getting free.
Remember, this is the umpteenth time that Rand has faced the Dark One
because this is the umpteenth time that the Third Age has come around.

Yeah, but are you sure about that? I remember that scene when Rand is
given one of the seals, and his madness (or Lewis Therin, take your pick)
almost causes him to break it. One gets the feeling that this may not be
just another cycle.

And if I read through the whole series, then find out someone tells Rand
"Oh, looks like you didn't kill him again. Better luck next time!", I'm
going to be very angry...

Well, a lot of people seem to like the idea, but are either too pressed
for time or haven't read/seen enought of one series to really go deeply
into a Slayers/Wheel of Time fanfic. If I may make a suggestion, we could
plot out a storyline, then have everyone interested do a part of the
story.

At first glance, this seems like Thieves World all over again, but S-WoT
would not have to have the same pitfalls as TW. The continuity problems
in TW were from a result of lack of planning. Essentially, the editor
told everyone "go write a story starring a character you made up." Thus,
characters who die in one episode were "resurrected" off stage in time for
the next. A properly planned and discussed timeline would easily
circumvent this. The other problem was that authors would try to 'out
god-aura' the other author's characters. Since we're just drawing from
WoT and Slayers who are powerful enough, I doubt we'll get any
surprise Goku-Sedai.

This question may seem premature, but I haven't gotten any indication that
someone wil pick up this story, even after all this debate. Unless,
someone is willing to try to tackle the crossover, this is the only real
alternative that I can think of.
