I've been thinking about this piece for a while. I'm not entirely happy

This Bloody Road
Rally Vincent sighed as she leaned back in the motel bed. She was
tired. It had been a long day, and she wasn't getting any younger. She
remembered when she had been able to go out and catch a bail jumper, come
home put in a full day at her shop, then go home and still find the energy
to fight with Minnie Mae.
I actually enjoyed this fic, despite the fact it went against the grain of
the GSC feel. One of the things I notoriously appreciated about the whole
GSC/RB Sonoda-thing was how it made me recall the cop and blaxploitation
movies of the 1970s--"The Organization," "Dirty Harry," "Shaft." The bad
guys are always small fish for the bigger, badder bosses--the ones that never
get entangled in their own webs. Stories that focused on superhuman
characters that nevertheless were as average and faulted as you or me (a
paradox I can't possibly express eloquently). The departure from that
feeling first set me off, but the writing and the story's stand-alone plot
and theme definitely drove this short work forward.
You know, maybe I should consider writing a GSC fanfic sometime--a short
story at first. Let's face it, Kenichi Sonoda has managed to bring back an
era of cops and robbers that has virtually disappeared from our screens; the
Sidney Portiers, Charles Bronsons and Clint Eastwoods of yesteryear have been
replaced with the flatter characters played by Sylvester Stallone, Kurt
Russell, Dulph Lundgren (sp?), and--unfortunately--Chow Yun Fat.
