Another WoT meets Anime debate. God help us all.
Well, the real fun would start when Lina gets her hands on a Sa'angreal.
Or if she was dragged there in the middle of the Shabranigdo-storyline
and still had the Philosphers' Stone with her.
I shudder while thinking the amount of destruction Lina's temper and
the Philosophers' Stone could cause together. Until 'that time of the
month'
hits. Then it's time to run from the Red Ajah. Fast.
Well, the Red's might want to recruit her, but otherwise I don't see them
taking an interest in her other than that would be taken in any other wilder
with insane powers.
Well after I got over the giddness of Lina Inverse kicking ass in the WoT
world I began to actually look at the mechanics of such a crossover (not
that I'm doing this fic mind you. I have a whole wack load of ideas ahead
of this one in the queue thank you very much.). Would Lina be held by the
rules of channeling in the WoT story line or would she be using the source
of power from her old world. It'd be nit picky here, but if Lina is under
the WoT restraints than her destructive powers would be under wraps a bit.
Well, if you want to play on the shock value of Lina's appearance on WoT
world, you should give her access to Source of All Power instead Saidar/
Saidin.
(can't remember which is the female side. ^_^;;)
Or here's a thought: make Magic and the One Power totally seperate things.
Nobody ever said that the One power is the ONLY thing you could use in
Randland. It would actually be pretty interesting; somebody tries to slap a
shield on her, and she's still throwing fireballs around.
If she isn't though, well let's just say keep her far away from any power
boosting objects because she could literally cause massive destruction on
a level not seen since the breaking of the world.
So can Rand, and we trust him with that whoop-ass sa'angreal he has.
Or...
Lina's facing a number of Aes Sedai.
Lina:So either I join you guys and follow your rules or you're going to
seal
away my powers, whether I like it or not.
Where'd THIS come from? As far as I can tell, there are no rules like this in
Tower law. After all, they regularly boot out Novices and Accepted who have
some channeling ability without gentling them. The only thing they'll come
down on you for is impersonating an Aes Sedai, and since Lina wouldn't do
that, she may be safe.
Thing is since the White Tower is the only place where somebody can learn to
channel with any effectiveness, they would never have had to worry about
someone like Lina.
Don't the Aes Sedai have to take that binding oath not to abuse
their powers in that way. (can't remember. Been a long time since
I read the books. It was something about them not being able to abuse
the power for some reason, IIRC...)
The First Oath: To Speak no word that is not true.
The Second Oath: To never use the One Power as a weapon except in defense of
your life, that of another sister, or that of your Warder.
The Third Oath: To never make a weapon with which one man may kill another.
Well let's just say she's a walking PR disaster for the White Tower...:)
The White Tower is a PR disater for the White Tower...
Nahh..I disgree with you on this point alot. Lina will probably be the
best magic user on the planet at the time. Hell probably in the history of
the place.
With this I disagree. Sure, Lina can destroy mountains at a regular basis,
but I don' think she could create Dragon's Peak. ^_^
One, that's DragonMOUNT, and two, she probably could. She can level mountains,
Rand has leveled mountains (with some help from a sa'angreal, see book four)
Rand is the Dragon, the Dragon made Dragonmount (yes he died, but still...) so
Lina is as powerful as the Dragon, and Lina could make Dragonmount.
And, Lina doesn't pull off the Dragon Slave without outside help.
Dragon Slave gets power from Shabranigdo. And if Shabranigdo isn't around,
I don't know if she could use the Dragon Slave. Even if she could,
certainly
not on a regular basis.
It doesn't draw power from Shabranigdo, it draws power from what Shabranigdo
is made of; hate, fear, etc. That's why the DS wouldn't work on Shabranigdo;
it would be like fighting a fire with a flamethrower, won't do any good, but
nothing stops you from trying, you sick little pyro. ^_^
I seriously doubt she could destroy Dark One on her own. ^_^ After all, she
needed the Hikari no Ken and Rezo's and Lord of Nightmares' help
to kill a fragment of Shabranigdo. But if she got her hands on a power
boosting artefact, she could probably Break the world again, or at least
freely throw around Dragon Slaves, which would cause havoc.
Like Rand isn't already. Come to think, wonder what 'ole Dragon-boy would do
when he heard of the Dragon SLAVE attack...
The major
concern here is that this is also how the Forsaken draw their power (at
least, that's how I interpreted it). Can you say Major Complications?
The Forsaken draw their power straight from the True Source, just like
everybody else. The only difference is that the Dark One keeps the men from
going mad.
In the very beginning of the first book the leader (I think) of
Forsaken said to Lews Therin that he uses 'a different source'.
The Forsaken have an ALTERNATE energy source called (by them) the True Power,
which has no relation to the One Power. It consists of drawing power directly
from the Dark One. They don't like to do it, because it's very dangerous and
will eventually kill you
And come to think of it, what would people say if they found out that
Lina was once called Dra-mata. (dragon spooker) And what would they
think of a spell called Dragon Slave? ^_^
Or what would people think if she was yanked to WoT world in the middle
of TRY storyline? Especially if Firia was with her. After all, Firia
is a golden dragon. ^_^
Well, the people in Randland have literally NO idea what A dragon is. They
only associate the word with THE Dragon, and they always capitalize it, since
it's a proper noun. Nobody knows anything about the animal, even though it's
right there on the Dragon Banner. They'd probably mistake Firia for some kind
of new Shadowspawn.
I'd have to agree here. Lina's power level? Two words: Dragon Slave. I
haven't seen any indication in the books so far that Rand could do
anything similar without a ter'angreal (I think that's spelled right...).
Sa'angreal, not ter.
Then there's the question of who is more powerful? Lina Inverse or Dark
Schneider? ^_^
I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.
Now, my two cents: I'd like to see how people would react to Zel and Gourry
and Naga. Zel would probably be mistoken for some kind of Trolloc (even with
the mask) and Naga... well, you've seen what she wears. Gourry would be the
only one to fit in, and that's until he pulls out the Sword of Light.
That's a possibility. The Sword of LIGHT. The people of Randland worship the
light (in a sense.) They might see Gourry as some kind of avenging angel. I
can see the Whitecloaks reaction now...
<The Whitecloaks have Lina and Gourry surrounded>
Whitecloak Leader: Ha! We've got you now, you Tar Valon witch! AND your litle
Warder too! Prepare to be purified in the name of the light?
Lina: Aw geez... Gourry, take care of these punks, willya?
<Gourry does his blade detach thing.>
Gourry: LIGHT, COME FORTH!!! <Insert Lightsaber-ish sound effect.>
Random Whitecloak: He has the Sword!!
Random Whitecloak #2: The Sword of Light!
All Whitecloaks: The Chosen One!!!!
<All the Whitecloaks bow before a mystified Gourry.>
Whitecloaks: All hail the Chosen one!
Gourry: Na- Nani?
Lina: Cool! I wonder what this Chosen gig pays....
Hey, it could happen. No, really!!!!
