[Warhammer comes out.]
WH: Hmm, when you think about it... love can be such a fickle thing
at times. Yet, not all the time thank goodness.
Teknos Warhammer presents
Seraphim's Judgment
Part 9c:
Shinji's Angels
A crossover between Neon Genesis Evangelion
And Teknoman.
After the test, all of the children went their separate ways. Still
inside the testing area, Maia and Misato were still discussing the test
results.
"I mean, it's not even possible! People his age cannot even reach that
high a level without at least showing some kind of severe damage to the
brain." Maia cried in frustration.
"Well, this one was sent by the big boys in SEELE. So, what ever the
reason may be, they won't tell us."
"Misato-san... what... what if he's..."
"Don't Maia. We can't just make snap judgments just like that. We could
be wrong about it."
"Well, the Evas are basically made of the same stuff as the angels..."
"... as are we Maia. Don't forget that the Angels are made of the stuff
humans are made of as well. It's a strange universe we live in."
Maia replied with silence and a final glance at the impossible
performance rating.

Rei walked silently down the hallway, still pondering on how to prove
Kaworu's being, until she head another voice from a connecting hallway.
"Rei."
She turned to see Gendou, leaning against the wall. She turned to him
and replied with her usual monotone voice, "Yes sir?"
When she saw his face in the light, she noticed that something was
amiss. He wasn't wearing his glasses!
"Rei... Shinji... how is," words that usually came so easy to him were
no longer there, "How is he doing?"
Rei replied simply, "He seems much happier. More so than when he first
came here, sir."
He turned away and started to walk away. Then, Rei stopped him with
something so simple, he never would have seen it coming. It was
called... a question.
"Sir, why do you not talk to him?"
For one of the few times in Gendou's life, he had no answer.
"I don't know." And he left.
*************************************************
After dressing, Touji grabbed his clothes and made a dash to the
elevators. He had heard that his sister was going to be walking today!
After pushing the button, he waited impatiently for the elevator doors
to close. Just as they were closing, a hand came out of nowhere and
blocked them.
Asuka stepped through and it appeared that she too was short on breath.
"Oh, hi Asuka." he said.
"Hey Touji." she replied between breaths and leaned against the wall of
the elevator. "What's the hurry?" Asuka asked between huffs.
"My sister is going to walk today! I can't believe she's almost
completely recovered! After all this time!"
Asuka started to smile at his cause for elation. That was when an uneasy
silence fell over the elevator.
"Um, Touji. Can... can I ask you something?"
Blinking, Touji replied, "Sure. What?"
"That angel. The Seraphim. Was she cute?"
Touji almost fell over. "What kind of question was that?"
Starting to get agitated because of his counter question, she pressed,
"Just answer the question, Suzuhara. Was she cute?"
<I can't believe she's asking this!> Touji thought as he recalled what
his savior looked like. "Well, she was kinda cute... why?"
"Oh, just wondering." With that she turned away.
He gave her an incredulous look and that's when something clicked in
both of their heads.
<Could it be...>
<...that she likes me?> <...I like him?>
They both took a second to look at each other.
<Naa.>
And went back to their own personal thoughts.
*************************************************
Shinji walked to the elevator, carrying his bag, and saw Asuka barging
in after Touji. He could never figure those two out.
A hand came out of nowhere and tapped his shoulder. He turned to the
left to see no one there. He heard a laugh on his right and he turned
just as quick to see Kaworu smiling.
"Kaworu-san! What did you do that for?"
"Gomen Shinji, but to put the extra effort into the first impression,
often counts the most."
"You have an odd way of saying hello then."
"I could have and been nothing more than a clone when I could have stood
out to someone I wanted to talk to."
"Oh... gomen."
"Do not worry about it. Small things that don't build up are not worth
worrying about."
They continued to speak about several more things by the door of the
elevator, waiting patiently for it to return. Shinji found Kaworu to be
a nicer guy than he gave him credit for.
Only Kaworu was able to sense that another pair of eyes were watching
him and Shinji. He took a brief glance to the darkness of the halls to
see Rei glaring at him. This time, she didn't even bother to disguise
her complete and utter hatred for him. He laughed it off briefly and
continued his conversation with Shinji.
*************************************************
The next day, he was introduced to the small class with the other
fourteen-year-old students. Most of them simply blinked a few times,
seeing if what they saw was real, shrugged their shoulders and went
about their business, uninterested. Yet, not all of his reception was
warm.
"Take a look at that freak." Whispered one boy to his friend, who
snickered at the pale appearance of Kaworu. They were both exchanging
absurd reasons as to how Kaworu came into being.
"Looks like he fell into a bucket of bleach when he was a kid."
"Either that or his folks put a little too much chlorine in their pool
and he liked swimming in it." They had whispered to each other.
Kaworu, sitting in front of the two boys unfortunately, paid them no
heed as the day went on. He didn't want to get into any kind of
confrontations where physical violence was the only recourse left, but
sometimes the taunts had gotten tiresome.
During lunch, he was hoping to be able to sit with Shinji, but was
intercepted by one of the two boys with obviously rude questions about
his origin. For the whole lunch period, they tormented him with
questions that would make any normal person go into a screaming fit of
violence, but he didn't give them the thrill of getting angry and would
on occasion, quip back at them with a comment that had no answer they
could use.
On his way home from school, he hoped to stop by the store and pick up
a few pieces of food and some milk to drink when he got home.
"Hey Powder!" one of the boys yelled behind him, making a reference to
an old movie about another albino. "What'chya doing?" He would ask with
a volume that would make anyone scream back, ordering them to silence.
"Only what it appears to you I'm doing." He answered, turning to the
direction of his home.
He frowned when he heard the other boy call behind him "Yeah, we know
what you're doing. You gotta head home to keep your fish-belly white
complexion!" And both started to laugh obnoxiously.
Turning a corner, he tried to keep his anger at a minimal. So, thinking
instead of going back and attacking, he reached his mind and slowly let
the particles that made his being dissipate. Bit by bit, his body came
apart yet still had enough semblance of self to turn back into the same
person when he reached his destination.
{Certainly great, that is the power of the angels.} He thought to
himself.
Along with his groceries, he felt the calm of being one with the wind
and carry him back home. He turned back to see the boys had attempted to
follow him, but it looked like their victim had vanished. He chuckled a
bit and allowed the wind to carry him home.
Everyday that followed, he would take his seat, hand in his homework and
overhear more crude insults from the two boys. During lunch and physical
education, they would, on more than one occasion, taunt him about his
skin and eyes. And after school, those same two boys would taunt him as
he went home.
Thankfully, every other day, he was excused from school for another
Synch test and a familiarization test with the EVAs at NERV. He would
have asked any of the other children for help, but they were all too
mired in their own troubles to even bother with him, and he couldn't
blame them, nor would he. On top of that, Asuka, Touji, and Rei would
most likely turn him down rather forcefully, making them all a hopeless
venture.
Shinji on the other hand although he had nothing against Kaworu, Shinji
felt a little overwhelmed when faced with the intelligence, fortitude,
and wit of Fifth Child. And would often shy away from him, leaving
Kaworu as prey for those two boys.
Only now, did he feel what some of the other children felt like. Being
alone that is. It felt empty, cold, and dark. He was often tempted to
just drop the whole facade, charge into NERV where Adam was. It seemed
as though there was nothing for him here. Nor would there be. All that
there was, was suspicion, hate, and fear. He wondered if it was just
easier if he just let NERV know of his angel heritage and hope for the
best. He considered this several times as he walked home.
Two weeks had passed since he was first introduced, and he felt as if
the dreams had finally failed him. Yet, they still persisted to him that
he should seek out Shinji. Yet, fate with its cruel sense of humor had
placed them far apart from each other.
"Hey weirdo! What's new?" said one of the boys said behind him. Closing
his eyes, he calmly came to a conclusion that enough was enough. If two
certain boys were found dead and mangled well, they would have most
likely died sooner or later.
His thoughts of murder were interrupted when he heard both boys scream
with pain as a third was screaming at them.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE DOING THIS AND FOR THIS LONG! GET LOST
YOU TWO, OR ELSE YOU'LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME!!" Kaworu turned around to
see the class representative, Hikari Horaki, was hitting both boys with
her book bag. And by the looks of it, the bag was filled with decidedly
heavy books. The boys left and much to his surprise, he found himself
walking over to the huffing class rep.
Blinking, he turned to her and said, "Are you alright?"
After gathering enough air, she nodded and replied, "I'm ok. But how
about you? I mean, at first I thought they were just joking around. But
after seeing this I just can't believe those two! They're so immature!"
Hikari growled.
Kaworu felt a bit nervous at the rather unstable way of acting for her,
that was when he remembered. "Oh, I never thanked you for helping me
out. Looks like I could not even think clearly through the mist their
comments made. Thank you very much Horaki-san."
She shook her head, "No, don't worry about it." She took a look at the
groceries he carried, "Say, if you don't mind me asking. You live
alone?"
He nodded, "I do."
She blinked, "Don't you get a bit tired of being alone all the time?"
He wanted to say yes, or anything to get her to leave him be, but the
truth came nonetheless. "I would be lying, to say I was content."
Her demeanor warmed a bit and she stepped in front of him and asked,
"You want to come to my place? I could use the company?"
He blinked a few times, and after a moment, he too could see the
loneliness in her eyes as well. The gentle heart of Kaworu overruled the
rational mind of Tabris. He smiled and said, "Very well then. Lead the
way."
Following her home, Kaworu suddenly reassessed the human race. It was
more than true. They were capable of such horrifying nightmares, yet,
with such a simple act of compassion could show they were also capable
of the most warm and beautiful dreams.
Once he joined with Adam if he joined with Adam, he would find a way
to spare the good of the human race. It would certainly turn out for the
better of this world.
End of Chapter 9c
[Warhammer comes out and you know the rest.]
WH: Ok, first of all, I left the earlier half of the original chapter
alone. And don't expect to see the rest anytime soon. I am thinking
about going as far as part 9e.
Also, the reason why you don't see that much of the other Children is
that this part of the story is Kaworu's time in the spotlight. And don't
worry, I am NOT going to try and make a Hikari/Kaworu couple. Jeez, what
do you people take me for?
For the sake of the boys, I will not reveal who they are also I have
not gathered the necessary willpower to come up with names for them
since they have such a trivial part. So, don't worry about them. You
won't see them anymore.
Finally; will Hikari's invite become her undoing? Will Kowaru learn a
little more about the better side of humanity? Find out next chapter.
[Warhammer makes a break for it to finish the next chapter.]
