Being stereotypical with characters can be good or bad. it depends on 
how you use them I believe. If it's to show their more serious sides 
when you do Darkifcs, introspection, and so on, go for it. I won't even 
discuss it when it's for something else though.

But if you want to break away from it, just do what I do. Make one of 
the regulars an extreme villan, you know, one who'd most likely kill 
another without hesitation. Such is the case as I did with Akane in 
Hammer's Wrath. She attacked the other fiancees and gave quite a bit of 
hurt to Ryouga when she found out about P-Chan.
