You're only HALF right.  At one point, Tarou gets splashed on the shoulders
with water from the Spring of Srowned Octopus, and THAT is where the
tentacles come from in later chapters of the manga.

Okay, I sit corrected.  I've gotten a flood of people telling me about this
one.  Unfortunately, this is not a chapter I've seen. ;_;  Alas, not one I'm
ever LIKELY to see either. :(
