But one also wonders why the "Male is Evil" part of this chapter even
needs to be there. There could be a thousand other ways Ranma could get
Kodachi to stop chasing her. The fact that you chose the "Male is Evil"
route seems to indicate that this has another purpose. The most obvious
one is that this is to show that Ranma believes it himself.

Which IS entirely possible at that point. I just re-read the whole thing,
and Ranma's attitudes from the beginning to this point seem to be pointing
to a decision on Ranma's point to drop his male side PERMANENTLY. To him,
his male side could be evil - he constantly has to be worrying about being
manly for his mother, he has challenges from Ryouga/Kuno/Mousse every five
minutes, he has his father and Tendo continually trying to get him an Akane
together, he has the whole fiancee mess to deal with....as a girl, he has to
deal with almost NONE of that.

>From Ranma's viewpoint, considering the fact that he is, well, HAPPIER as a
girl, and has a freedom whole leaps and bounds beyong what he has a boy, his
male side may be becoming more and more evil.

Nick, you may think I'm reading more into this than there really is, but
when I read that scene I was convinced that yes, it was an act, but not
completely. Ranma was only half-acting to my eyes.
