God... fighting surreal tendencies and a paranoia has gotten me this low.
My only request is that you heed the title. If there's any characterization
problem, I apologize. The Philippines is one of the few places in the world
that shows it on Saturday mornings, and I don't even watch it. :) I skimmed
through the article in Animerica for the names.
Where are my characterizations based on then? Amateur Japanese CGs. Solos.

Amelia poked her head into Lina's room. "Whassup?"
Lina had this concentrated look... much like constipation in a dollop. "AGH!"
"Eh-heh," Amelia scratched her nape. "Sorry."
Lina's demon-doodle face disappeared. "S'okay. It's... it's just so damned
difficult!"
Ignoring Lina's histrionics, Amelia eyed the tome. "'Hearts of Ice'?"
"What? Oh, yeah. I got bored of pyrotechnics."
"I suppose it might help with your temper..." Amelia muttered.
"What's that?"
"Oh, nothing... what're you trying out?"
"There's this spell, see...?" The redhead flipped through the pages, not
really noticing the flecks of old paper flying away from the violent browsing.
The shorter girl at least had the sense to look appalled. "Can't you just
tell
me what it is?"
"Aha!" Lina pointed/poked at the page. "Here it is!"

Gourry was outside, walking the gait of the unsuspecting victim. "Ah, such a
beautiful day..." He stopped to smell a rose.
***
"It has... a terrifying name," Amelia conceded.
"C'mon! It's got to be really kewl to have a name like that..." Lina sat
crosslegged, and put her hands together, forefingers pointing upward.
Summoning that inner self that all mages have and all mage wannabes do not,
a marble-sized sphere begins to form a centimeter from the hand.
"Oh! That's so great, Lina!" Amelia glowed in amazement and awe. "And I
really thought you couldn't do it!"
"Shut... up... kid," Lina said through gritted teeth. "Now... to... tap... my
inner... calm..."
"Way to go, Lina!"
The self-proclaimed "dragon spooker" stood up, annoyance evident. "Shut up!"
To both their surprises, the blue ball didn't pop out, like some bubble.
Instead, it began to grow rapidly, staying a centimeter from the point of her
hand.
"AAHH! What's happening?!"
Amelia opened the window. "Quick! Let it loose before it gets too big!"
Immediately, Lina pointed to the outside. Obediently, the ball flew, a globe
of blue-white ten inches wide.
"Whew!" Lina wiped her brow to emphasize it. "That was close."
Amelia looked out the window, suddenly aware that the ball was now locked on
target with the behind of their warrior companion. "It's Gourry! He's in the
way!"
Lina leaned out the window and hollered: "Gourry, get out of the way!"
"Huh?" Gourry stood and turned towards the inn, aware of the globe instantly.
Lina looked like she was going to burst an artery. "Before you catch my..."
Gourry caught it.
"... Death of Cold," Amelia finished.
