After a day of practical silence, I've suddenly recieved messages from several
people that seem (!yay!) to be interested in my fanfiction. Specifically,
Crash-Course With Destiny and A Demon's Delight. I've gotten some decent C&C on
the former, and requests for the latter.
This is *really* good for me, as nothing is quite like someone telling me that
they are interested in what I'm writing. *But*, there are two problems. The
first problem is technical. I've gotten Word to stop being so anal about
Netscape when it comes to CCWD, but A Demon's Delight? Word is laughing in my
face because every attempt to copy and paste has failed. Every attempt at
saving to a different format has failed (It becomes a very very VERY long
paragraph) and every attempt to open the file and read it with another program
has been *futile.* I guess that's what I get for using a Microsoft product to
create something while expecting a Netscape product to ship it out for me.
The second problem may sound a bit selfish, but here it is: I've decided to
re-write A Demon's Delight *totally*, and I'll probably start on it after I
finish chapter 3 of CCWD. Now, the storyline for ADD is entrenched in my mind
word-per-word (actually, thats not much of an exagerration) so if I start
rewriting it and just make it more interesting it will take maybe a week or 9
days or so. I've already outlined what I plan on changing, so I could probably
get all 40+ pages done quickly. I wrote half of that fanfic in two days, after
all.
Now, this poses a problem because if I manage to post ADD as it is now, who's
going to read the new version? It will be like going to see a school play that
bites, and hearing that they are doing it somewhere professionally. The play
wasn't good, why watch it again? If, say, 15 people are going to read A Demon's
Delight, I'd rather have them wait a week or two for the good version than get a
bunch of comments on the old version which I will keep on my hard drive solely
to show myself that I *have* improved in the last year.
My apologies for the confusion this will cause to the people following CCWD. Up
until about four days ago I considered A Demon's Delight to be pretty good, but
then I saw how different (better) my writing was in CCWD... I can't bring myself
to ask people to read last years badly planned and badly written fanfiction to
understand events in CCWD. Chapter 3 of CCWD will be a Ranma/Akane/Ryouga
chapter for the most part, but Akane is a... umm, *bit* more powerful than she
was before ADD's events. Give me three or four days to write chapter three of
CCWD, then give me some time to re-write A Demon's Delight. Unless all the
forces of Heaven and Hell combine against me I'll make sure that ADD works out a
lot better this time. After all, why should I allow bad writing to damage a
good story?
Oh god, I just looked at my signature file... I quoted *my* stories three
times!!!! (Quietly sobs for quoting himself)
