The NERV Project was our last best hope for peace in an
unforgiving place. A Totally self-contained Environment six kilometers
long. A Place of Intergalactic Capitalism, Diplomacy for nearly half a
million beings. The Light that breaks through the cold dark night that
is space. It was the Third age of mankind...the year war tore asunder
what we had wrought. This is the Story of the Final of the NERV
Stations. The year is 2259, the name of this place...NERV-5.

The Council chamber was in an uproar.
Ambassadors for every member of the Free World League shouted at one
another.
With the Zaibachs Change of allegiance, much of the current power
structure had collapsed, and each race was trying to put things back
together best they could.
Misato banged her gavel on the table. Order! Order! She shouted.
 No one paid any attention.
Misato grew frustrated. She ground her teeth. Then, with a single
motion, she pulled her PBG, and Blasted a blacken hole in the ceiling.
This brought emedit silence to the hall.
Much better. She said Smugly. Now, everyone, take youre seats. She
motioned with the PBG.
The Ambassadors took their seats Quickly.
Now we will hear what you have to say. First, the...
I would like to speak. Said Princess Aeka, from her seat at the head
table.
There was a muted grumbling from the members, but no one voiced an
objection.
I now not only speak for Jurai, but also, for the ZaiBach Empire now.
We are a people with a single fate, and with that single fate, a single
voice, and I am that voice. Aeka Declared.
Eagle Vision, Ambassador from the planet Autozam stood. If I may
speak. He asked, and now waiting for conformations, he began. We of
Autozam have always had close ties with the ZaiBach Empire, but no
longer, all treaties with The ZaiBach are now NULL and VOID. We will not
see ourselves Betrayed to the decedent Jurian Empire! He was shouting
when he finished.
The Hall erupted into shouts again.
Misato casts a Sidelong glance at Aeka, who was trying to read
something without anyone seeing what it was. She then turned to Ryoko,
who sat to her left. She looked ready to explode. Misato Sighed at look
towards Kiyone, who stood at the doorway with a security Detail, ready
to discourage any more Psychical Disagreements. Misato looked
heavenward. God, what have I done? She silently thought to herself.

It was raining on Jurai. Not a light rain, but the type that made one
feels wet and miserable to the very soul.
Inside the much dryer Palace throne room, Azusa, the new emperor of the
Jurian Star Empire sad upon his living wooden Throne.
Before him stood a young man who was talking to the Emperor is hastened
tones.
You see, we have demonstrated all our worth already. He said.
Thats true.... But what do you want from us?
Nothing.... yet...but we will call in a favor once and a while.
Nothing that should put youre people at risk...or burden you... and
Jinnai walked off, his laughter filling the hallways.

Misato starred out the window of her quarters and silently sipped at
her beer. She sighed. It would only be 2258 for another few hours. What
a year it had been. NERV-5 came online; she had been promoted to captain
of the most important EF station. She had nearly seen the start of a war
between the Jurai and the Demon Gods, but then she thought they were
always ready to go to war with each other.
 Her door chime rang.
 Enter. She said.
Through the door came security chief Kiyone.
Hi Kiyone, whats up? Misato said, not taking her eyes from the star
filled space that lay an inch away though the window.
Ah...well, theres something I need to tell you, the president is
going to make his new years day speech from here.
Misato nearly dropped her beer. The president, here??!
Yes...I just got word...its a surprise visit, but...we need to make
sure everythings O.K.
 Damn...this is sudden. Misato.
I know, a surprise visit though. Hell be here in twenty hours. I
guess we should get everything ready.
You guess, Kiyone? Misato cocked an eye at her. You never guess
Kiyone. You know the answer to every question you ask before you even
ask it. Youre hunches are always right, and Ive never doubted you.
Well, to be honestIve just had a bad feeling as of lateI mean, like
something major is going to happen and its going to affect all of us.
Said Kiyone, who looked at a photo sitting on a table. Whos the guy in
this? I see you and Dr. Akagi, but the guy...
Ohheh, his name is Kaji Ryuji. We were involved for a whilehe was in
the EIO. But he diedat least thats what Ive come to believe. He was
aboard the Hebron when it was lost out on the rim. That was 2 years
ago.
Yea, I know about the Hebron. It was Full of university students and
EDF personnel. Wait... Kiyone goes distant for a moment. A warning
light showed up a while ago in the costumes report. One of the people
who came on this station was aboard the Hebron! I cant believe this
didnt register until now! Kiyone slammed on the table with her first,
causing the photo to fall to the floor.
Calm downI saw you mad beforeI dont want my quarters too look like
that bar on Io. Said Misato.
I was drunk and that Guy grabbed me. You might be used to it butme.
Yea I know, being from one of the last ninja clans on earth would give
you a pretty sheltered existence. The training and stuff.
Yes. Well, it wasnt that bad. How many 12 year old girls are leaning
how to climb a smooth wall, or throw dirks so accurate that they can cut
down a bee in flight. Kiyone pats the various hidden throwing dirks
around her body.
Im just glad youre on my side. Said Misato, smiling.
Thanks, anyway, Better get ready, not often the EF President comes to
a lowly stations such as ours. Kiyone turned on her heal and walked out
of Misatos quarters, leaving Misato alone illuminated by starlight.

EF Research complex, Necromunda Colony

Vice president Ikari Gendou looked down upon the operating theater. He
watched at the malformed doctor worked on the beautiful corpse that lay
upon the slab.
Hojo. Said Gendou though the speaker.
 Yes sir? said Hojo.
 Im waiting, is it ready?
Almostthe body has been in statis nearly two thousand years. It was
in a coma when it was placed in statis, so that effected it more than I
thought.
I know that, how much longer until we can release it into hyperspace?

Soon sir, very soon. Hojo turned some dials and prodded the body with
some pointy instruments. He looked at a Display and nodded. Sir, its
done.
Good. Everythings in place for my plans. Stage one begins in less
than fifth-teen hours.
Unless Ryuji screwed up. Said Hojo to himself.

NERV-5

Major! Major! Yelled Mihoshi as she ran down into the docking bay.
She attempted to leap down the short flight of stairs, but she succeeded
in banging her head against the doorjam.
Detective? said Misato to the dazed Mihoshi.
Kiyonesays...that the Presidents ship will be through the jumpgate
shortlyand GNN is has a spotter-cam thats going o give a better
picture than the stations cams. Mihoshi shook her head to clear the
ringing in her ears.
Thanks Misato said dryly. She walked over to a panel on the wall and
punched up GNN Coverage.
And now the moment of Earthforce 1s arrival though the Jumpgate. And
there it is. The Fighter escorts are flying in their standard escort
pattern. Its now only a few minutes from the station. Waitsomethings
wrongits. Oh my god! Its..Fire! Its terrible! Thiscant be
happeningthe fighterstheir moving awaythere couldnt be any
survivorsno! Im dreaming! Dear Lord! No!
