We're pleased to announce our first semi-annual fan fiction award, geared
toward shoujo, shounen-ai, and yaoi manga based fanfics. So
writers, here's your chance to have fun, gain exposure, and win fun prizes,
including a Luv Ewe(TM).
Deadline is April 15th, 1998.
The winners will be announced before May 15th.
Submit your stories to info@aestheticism.com with
[Fanfic competition] in the subject.
The Categories:
You can submit one story to each of the following categories:
* Stories (G-R) - Any story based on an anime or manga, rated G-R.
* Stories (NC17-X) - Any story based on an anime or manga, rated NC17-X
* Crossovers - Any story featuring characters from two or more
manga/anime series.
* Parody - Use your imagination, go wild. It can be serious or silly.
Examples are Taishakuten and Ashura in Cinderella, or Fushigi Yuugi
does Les Mis.
* Best Original Story or A/U - Because the stories are original, all we
ask is that your story has some bearing on anime or manga. It could
be
inspired by the stories of CLAMP, or written in the style of the
popular graphic novels, or involves borrowed characters in alternate
settings.
* The Luv Ewe Award - Not really a category. This award is given to most
imaginative or original PWP story selected from all entries
Prizes:
5 runner-ups, one selected from each category, will receive $25 worth of
grab bag goodies.
The Luv Ewe award: Let's just say you'll be real surprised when you get it.
J
One overall winner. The overall winner nominated and chosen by a panel of
judges will receive a $100 gift certificate from Aestheticism Cybershoppe.
Who can submit:
Even though Aestheticism is a yaoi oriented site, this is not a yaoi
oriented award. So long as your story is based on an anime or manga,
you're welcome to submit it. Even if it's original, as long as it has
something to do with anime or manga, or is influenced by the style of anime
or manga, you can submit it to the Original Story section. However, in
keeping with the theme of Aestheticism, this is still a primarily
shoujo/shounen-ai/yaoi fan fiction award. We love slash stories based on
shounen series, but if you submit a story of Dark Schneider chasing naked
girls, your chance of winning is much slimmer.
Submission Guidelines:
1. One story per category per writer. That means if you're submitting a
story in each category, you can submit up to six stories at most.
2. Send your story to info@aestheticism.com in text or html format.
Submission in any other format will be returned to the sender. If you're
sending it in text format, make sure it's 80 characters/line.
3. Spell check and proofread your submissions. We will not edit or
proofread the stories for you.
4. Include the following information at the beginning of your story:
Your name, a valid e-mail address, the category of your submission, the
anime/manga it's based on, and a rating between G and X. If any of the
above information is missing, the story will be returned to you.
5. This is going to be a semi-annul event. Therefore we would like
writers to submit either new stories or stories written within the past six
months. Even though we can not enforce this rule, if you chose to submit
old stories, you should be aware that we'll give preference to stories that
we haven't read elsewhere on the net.
Liner Notes:
1. Your story will be sent to a panel of judges without your name to
insure fair judging. Aestheticism's staff will be the only people
with knowlege of author information, and will not be on the panel of
judges.
2. All of the entries will be released to general access in the archive
17 April. The release of the semi-finalists' names is to be announced.
3. All of the entries will be entered into the archive unless
specifically instructed by the author.
4. If there's only one entry in a competing category, that entry does not
necessarily win by default. The panel will still be the deciding on
the sole entry.
If there are multiple writers who collaborate on a winning entry, one
prize will be shared.
