Quite recently, becoming outraged with the work of a certain member
of the fanfiction community -- who posts under the alias Dark Day For Anime
-- I wrote this individual a letter, in haste and in anger.

	I now publicly apologize for the contents of that letter.  Why?
Even more recently, I discovered a story, originally written in the 1950s,
entitled "The Enchanted Duplicator".  This story, written by Bob Shaw and
Walt Willis, is an allegory about Science Fiction fandom, of which I believe
our community is a part, written in a similar fashion to Pilgrim's Progress.
At the same time, I encountered a "pseudo-sequel" to that story "The
Reaffirmation", written four years ago by one Rob Hansen, and found a
statement in it that made me reconsider my actions.

     "The secret of Fandom is love. Most of its greatest works have been
     produced during periods of loving harmony, and it is always these
     that we remember most fondly. Yet such harmony is fragile and
     easily destroyed. To be a cynic and a wrecker is easy and requires
     little talent. It's something that those who have any feeling at
     all for Fandom should seek at all costs to avoid becoming." ("The
     Reaffirmation", by Rob Hansen, 1994)
     
	When I attacked Dark Day for Anime, I allowed myself to descend to
the level of a cynic and a wrecker.  I regret doing so, and I apologize.

	I was wrong.
